Hi Joe,

The thickness af the (litho) aluminium is 0.25 mm and I attach it with Bison-Tix. You have to apply glue on both sides and wait for 10 minutes.

Have made some pictures for you.
My tools, thickness depending on the rivets.

Pressing the awl in the alu, if this has been heated it gets soft and then you must not press too hard.

When you are finished turn over the alu and take a piece of alu tube (wich is clean) roll over the alu pressing the dots back.

The dents will be smaler and more scale like. If you don't press them back the dents are too deep in my opinion.
Just try it to get the feel of it.

Greets,
Peter

Where do you purchase your Aluminum Sheeting?

Andy,
If you look to purchase this stuff, your going to end up paying around $25 per sheet (typical sheet is 12"x18"). If you are lucky to have a printer in the are that still does lithography style printing, you can typically get the stuff for free, b/c the sheets are just scrap/recycle material after they use it once.

Ripped the first seal of and started with the other side. The "fingers" will disappear under the other seal when the LEF is in his level position. They cover the hinge on the real one. On the model I will try to make this also.

Thanx Thomas.

Man it looks good. So are you going to do like most and offer these things on a limited basis of production? I'd love to get my hands on one of these ( I prefer 2 seat -16's to the single's) and one of the SU-27's from your side of the pond as well..

Hi Thomas, thanx. It would be a pitty that there would be just one , when everything goes well with the first test B I will make some brothers for it.
I know which SU-27 you mean.......... awesome scale model. Long time ago I have seen the plug on JP Germany, super.

Once I have seen 2 F14's on LWD airbase near by, what a awesome jet. To see them land on the tarmac is fantastic, they smash it on the ground. Very different than the F16, this looks like landing on tip toes.

Greets,
Peter

The big piece of alu on the wing is now in place , lots and lots of screws. Never new that there were 4 different sizes of screws on it, but they are all in place now.

Haha I wish, I still have to do the underside [>:], my goal is to have the upperside ready before 16/17 september. The plug will then be at the PR stand of 323 squadron at the airshow on Leeuwarden Airforce base.

You are still a head of me .....

Really loooking awesome Peter. Good thing about the bottom wing skin is it is rivets and not screws. Maybe that is a bit easier for you.

Beautifull work!!!

Hi John, thanx.
As far as I know there are 31 screws on the bottom , indeed the rest is rivet. I only have to find out if there is a difference in diameter.

The gap between the wing and the fuselage is also closed. Eh Thomas, I took another drink but it doesn't help .

Peter,
The latest photo's are simply amazing! It really makes me wish I had the resources to put in all of the rivet detail on the F-14, but oh well. Your falcon is going to be fantastic!

The flaperon is almost ready now so here a few pictures to keep the flow going.

I don't know if I mentioned it before but those who are on the European side , the model is on the Open Dagen at Leeuwarden Airbase on the 16 and 17 of september this month. It will be at the pr stand of 323 squadron/ testflight in shelter 521.

LEF and flap in there max travel.

Every time making some progress with the alu the plug looks more and more like the real one .
