King Tech - A big Thumbs Up!

Hello All,
During the Jet World Masters qualifier, I used a King Tech K80E in my BVM F-80-C and I am happy to report that the turbine performed flawlessly during the event. The turbine reliably started every time, it also had great throttle response. The temps were low and fuel consumption was good. The weight of the actual turbine is slightly higher (.17 lbs or 77 grams) than the P70 I was using, but once you take into account the over all weight of the complete installation (ECU, Pump and turbine), the net effect was less weight. I haven't put the jet on a scale yet since I installed it but I can tell you that my forward RX battery had to be moved closer to the center tank when I rebalanced the jet. This battery was a 4 cell NimH which is pretty heavy.
I will be putting more flights on this turbine over the next several months and report the results, from from what I am seeing King Tech is going to be a major payer in the turbine market.
I found out that they can also be run on diesel (its in the manual). Around here diesel cost less than Kero so this represents an even higher value. If you haven't had the chance to give these guys a try, based on my initial experience with this high quality product and exceptional customer service I would highly recommend them.
btw, repair turn around is said to be 5-6 working days.

Thank you Andy, we are glad you are enjoying your K-80
The factory turn around time is anywhere between 2 to 5 working days, plus EMS shipping both ways, so I would comfortably say less than 3 weeks you will have your engine back if one needed any rotor assembly related work done. Otherwise, we are fully stocked with parts and components here in California for repairs on any electrical or plumbing issues.
Cheers,
Barry

Welcome to the Kingtech family. I have been flying my F-86 with a K-80 all summer. I have about 60 flights on it and she runs great. Have fun with yours and here is a link to my Sabre.

Ah, I had forgotten about that thread. Hows the F-86 doing? That thing is awsome looking bud!!! Nice speed on those fly buys. I was very surprised at the throttle response on the K80E. I think its getting better fuel economy than my previous turbine to. I am going to measure the volume of fuel and calculate it. I got just over 7 min at full continuous throttle on the bench.

Hey Andy, how is the throttle responce compared to the P-70?
