With Jet-A1 yes! But these days I use paraffin from local hardware store and no smell...also helps to work in the workroom. Jet-a1 is the smell of freedom, but I prefer it on the field only.

Transport mine in my trailer, and no. I even keep them inside of my home. Now, don't be careless and have a spill.

I wonder also if the particular oil one mixes in with the fuel might make a difference. I have been using the DTE light oil which has very little smell to it. I think the jet oils are a bit more pungent.

LOL the difference between how Jet-A1 and Kerosene compares in smell is like when I take a dump or my wife. They both are pretty bad but one always is worse than the other. I wont say which, but sometimes I wonder what she had for lunch. Both fuels stink to me :)

But thats the cost of true jets :) if you dont spill, you dont smell.

Glad I asked. So for me, going the jet route would also include the cost of a trailer and a trailer hitch. My nose is pretty sensitive to gas and kero and I sure as heck dont want that smell in my car.

On sunday a fellow jet flyer showed up with his Flash set inside his Yukon. He did not cap off the vent and ended up spilling the remainder of his onboard fuel on the rear area of his yukon. Located directly under the jet was his brand new BD air compressor which is now soaked and dead...its not if... but when you get the spill in your car you will understand how kero really smells[:@]
