Well I thought I would start a thread on this jet I am building. I went and picked the kit up from Malcolm a few weeks ago and started working on it a week ago. This is a really nice kit, but the instructions need a bit reworking. When they say the kit comes 70% done, they mean it. I hope to have this completed by the end of the month.

Well I was going to put my Simjet 3000 engine I original got for my Euro Fighter in it, but now its not performing the thrust even for this one. So looks like I am going have to get with Keven and Ed more on the engine before I decide to use it in this project.

What type of material is the red tubing the nose gear steering is running thru. in pic one? That maybe a good way to make mine.

Thank

it is a low gage type of plastic tub that I heated with a heat gun and wraped it around a pipe to get a good form. you could probably get it a hardware store.

Is it an Aviation Design kit ?

Yes it is a Aviation Design Kit. I am using Tams pipe and the Wheels from BVM's Rafale for scale.

The duct Tape blends in real well with the red white and blue!!!!
Im hoping I dont have to move the C.G. at all I only added a pound in the tail, but that should balance out with the 2 pounds I added in the nose to stick it all back together..... :D See you Sunday I hope..

Dave,

Your first hard landing on the nose gear will crack those wood rails right where the narrow part is. The supplied mounts are kind of soft, you might want to "cap" them now with some good ole ply rails.

Vincent, there is ply caps on the ends but I was thinkging of adding carbon fiber plate on top. Thanks for the heads up...

I ran two rails across the top and spanned the bulkheads (after they cracked of course).

David,
your 2000 looks cool, I remember the early days when the first kits were flown with 6kg thrust JPX....flew quite well
Look at that stunning tiger scheme that was demonstrated at this year Nato tiger meet...if you are good enough at the airbrush.....;o)

Well haven’t posted in a bit, got side tracked with the kids going back to school. I have finally finished the retracts and wheels took allot of tweaking and some reengineering but I managed. I had to make static aluminum blocks for BVMs wheel hubs.
