Would you be interested in another painting tutorial?

As the title suggests, only this time, it would be using the new water based paints. In Canada here (and in a few states) we have been forced to make the change to waterborne paints. I have invested in the PPG envirobase paint system now and am now spraying the waterborne base coat. Clear coats and primers are still solvent based and not much different from previous primers and clears, but are now VOC compliant.
I have a few jet builds for people that will be coming close to paint time soon, as well as my CAI Raptor which I want to refinish. If there is interest, I'll do a new tutorial involving the waterborne paints. Please understand that while some of the spraying principles always apply regardless of paints, the waterborne is a different animal than solvent base. However, I think it will be very beneficial to RC modeling as the film build, therefore the weight, is significantly less with waterborne than the solvent base. This also means that with less film build, you need less clear to level out masking lines.
I'm not a fan of waterborne yet, I miss my solvent based paints, but I have to change, I've been spraying the waterborne for a little while now and thought maybe a water borne tutorial might be of some value?

Jeremy it would be great!

as you know already i have paint a few jets with them and dont like them at all

Water base paints suck big time cause they take ages to dry and if you are not carefull they will driple ...

we change over to them a few years back (inviroment reasons )

...start the tutorial!!

Hey Karl,
Yeah I love flying it! I flew it over and over again at the last princeton event until my nose gear steering cable snapped and I didn't have anything to repair it at the field with. Al Watson had a radar gun at that event and the Raptor kept pegging it at 220mph, who knows how fast it was really going, needed the radar to go faster haha. It's the nicest sport jet I've ever flown, I like it much better than a Bandit, and easy to land! Holy crap, you can almost fall asleep landing that airplane! Once I have a few more flights on my Firebird the Raptor might not get flown quite as much, pretty hard to beat the sound of that AMT NL Olympus in a Firebird ;)
You gotta come back up to Princeton my friend, we need to put the Raptors in the air together!

Then you are doing it all wrong! I work as a Car painter, and have used both the PPG Enviro base, and the 90 series from Glasurit for a few years now. It do not take long to dry. Just remember: it is not warm temp that makes the water base dry, but air circulation. And if you make the water base driple, you are putting on way to much!

I should have added a few more words to what I was saying........... You use the plane that I send to do the painting, THEN, when done... return it to me.. :D

I guess we both thought that we would have something!

Christian is correct, if you are getting drips or runs it's going on way to thick and not allowing to cure between coats. I'll be sure to go over all that when I do the tutorial.

I really stink at covering, and have done painting in the past but with newer products and with someone who knows  the right way to lay them down, noe thats priceless................I vote yes</p>

I'm ready. Got a Snaker racer in the prime and needing a little color...right now! Especially if heat isn't an issue since it's friggin cold down here. [8D]

Any tips you have are always welcomed Jeremy.
