the MAP bubble free tanks are the best ones i have used. I find its much better than the BVM UAT style tanks with the sock/bag pickup. ~V~ |
RE: Looking for UAT alternative
The MAP ones are really good and they also have an option for oversize fittings for larger engines - 160 to 200 size.
I have used the standard MAP and also the oversize. Really well made. The other one that you may be thinking of: http://www.bhhanson.com/Aircraft%20H...uct%20Line.htm Scroll down to the bottom. PaulD |
RE: Looking for UAT alternative
Try making a header tank yourself from a small fuel tank it is very easy and costs about £6

ORIGINAL: marc s New, simple and work...... marcs From the packaging, to the wood cradle, machine cut from 5+ ply, not burnt out of crap liteply, to the tank itself, is STUNNING..... Have been using BVM UAT, But the Air bubbles and bleeding seem problematic, and so time to try another system, it has a paper filter in the middle of the tank, next to no bleeding or trapped air as best i can see... GBR Products including there servo mounts are as good as it gets... WELL DONE Marc... cheers Jeremy. |

Jetmodeller, where did you find that pleated filter that can be soldered? I can only find ones with a large hole in one end...some with a rubber plug in it. Thanks.

The real alternative to a UAT is not to use one at all.

RE: Looking for UAT alternative
I use the Hanson traps with my Rabbit and Superbee. They work quite well and I've never had a problem with either in 2+ years of service. Inexpensive, too.

|
RE: Looking for UAT alternative
Luckyy, they will be available shortly via Dreamworks, the large CAT's will be made next week and then shipped out with the rest.
If your in a hurry PM me and I can arrange to send one from here. marcs |
RE: Looking for UAT alternative
ORIGINAL: Zagzoo In the usa you can make them for under $15ish. Napa/autozone has the pleated filter (injector filter) for $3, there is a web site called the containerstore for the bottle $.99, fittings $10. Just soldier 3/16'' brasstube to the filter (thru a wheelcollar). Yes you are quite right, when Sandor at Digitech had his online shop running, you could buy the standard phamesutical bottles from him for about £10 + he also sold the tea bag and all the other bits cheap too, so I don;t know why the BVM ones are so expensive. I bought a couple of bottles from him, as when my Intro went in a couple of years ago, the original BVM bottle got holled, so the parts were removed and I inserted them into a new bottle but I also now have a spare bottle. Sandor came over to Bickley Jets in 2009, and was selling stock on his stand, he had complete BVM copy air traps for sale for £20, which I purchased one, I now wish I had purchased a few more to use in other models, as people always seem to sell models less the air trap! Judging by the price of the BVM ones, that must be like leaving a gold nugget in the airframe:D Mind you, after seeing Mark S's air traps at Bickley this year, they look great, and at least they look like your getting some value for your money as they are custom made, rather than your paying big $ for something you know is and can be made cheaply. |
RE: Looking for UAT alternative
I like my PST air trap. Works well, has large fittings, totally clear container so you can see what is going on inside, high capacity and is extremely rigid so it cannot collapse like the soft Nagalene bottle type units that BVM, Hansen and others use.

RE: Looking for UAT alternative
Yes have got to say those baby type bottles look the nuts, ever since I saw a PST article in RCJI mag. didn't know they sold them separately from their own kits, also would love to know the cost of one?
