aw-32
sold at lowes and auto parts stores. anyone ever used it as turbine oil?
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...&ppt=C0139 sold under brands such as pro select and coastal. |
RE: aw-32
hydraulic oil is a light mineral oil and has a very low boiling point, it wouldn't be optimal as a lube in our turbines.
plenty of alternatives out there that are readily accessible and economically priced. |
RE: aw-32
isnt mobil dte 24 a htdrauloic oil?
do you kniw any oils I can use in a jet cat i might be able to get locally? |
RE: aw-32
its a lubricating oil, used in hydraulics but mostly in vacuum pumps/compressor motors for lubrication.
for a JetCat, JetCat recommends Aeroshell 500 turbine oil, but any milspec 23699 (synthetic) turbine oil is acceptable, YMMV. |

RE: aw-32
KC is right, AW-32 has a much lower flash point if you compare the specs
|
RE: aw-32

ORIGINAL: skydve76 do you kniw any oils I can use in a jet cat i might be able to get locally? Locally for your area? No. You can buy oil recommended for turbines here...http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/turbine-oil-c-150.html Don't risk your engine's health, performance and your warranty by feeding your engine oil not recommended by the manufacturer.... That's my take on turbine oil, YMMV. |
RE: aw-32
can you not get a MS23699 oil in your area or is it a health concern issue???
|
RE: aw-32
I can get it just have to order it, I was trying to find a local source for convenience.

ORIGINAL: skydve76 glad you showed up, this is for my new k80f. Barry sells a big ole bucket of turbine oil for a good price, and a couple gallon goes a long ways. |
RE: aw-32
Thanks guys for the info. I talked to Barry and will buy some from him. According the one manufacturer of the AW-32, it is the same as DTE 24. But I think I will stick with real turbine oil.
There is a small airport locally that has 4 private jets. I am going to go talk to them and see if they will sell me some oil in the short term until Barry gets his supply. |
RE: aw-32

Whether or not these oilswill workmightbe determined by some testing (assuming someone has a motor they don't mind experimenting with) but seeing that you have a new motor are you perhaps voiding the warranty by using a different oil than what is recommended byeverymanufacturer? Ifyou do experienceany issue with your motor and it becomes known that you were using a totallydifferent typeoil in the thing, I have a feeling you may have an issue getting your repair covered even if you keepup withthe required maintenance schedule with Kingtech.

RE: aw-32
Why not call Tac-Air at 402 422-6633, go to the airport and get Turbine oil locally?

RE: aw-32
chevron gst 32 same as mobil dte lite but has highter flash point. also chevron hipersyn 32 has almost the same flash point as
aeroshell 500 |
RE: aw-32
Yeah I think AW-32 would also be fine but I am not going to risk my motor. I will stick with status quo for now and just use DTE LIght.
From my understanding, burning turbine oil is very bad for your health. Its not meant to be burned. |
