Need Modellbau V3 Tornado Input

1 Attachment(s)
To start I would like to keep this post focused.

With that said, I received my Tornado today. And I have a few questions.

1) Are those little "Robart" style hinges going to work? They look a little small.
2) The left wing incidence is not correct assuming the wing profile should match the fuselage. Fix it or leave it alone?

Fix it or you will never get it trim out right.

Let's hope the slaters and doubters don't chime into this thread and reserve their negative comments for the other thread.

If only RCU had the function for the starter of a thread to remove dross so the thread can remain useful and focused on the reason why the it was started.

They would conversely have to remove all the shilling, promoting, and advertising, then, too.
The funny thing is, so many dealers for various people endlessly promote here. They take any opportunity to sling their product.
And then when someone has something less than glowing to say, they get all upset, and act like children.
Looks like V3 is really the same thing as all the other Vs.
Might as well just get the original, the Falcon 120.
Those hinges are really cheap copies of the Robart hinge, I would never use them, they are really weak. If the horns and all that are of the same quality, throw them all out, they are not suitable for purpose at all.

That is a great page you have Ian. Thanks. Do you have anything about the fitting of the canopy?

And thank you to everybody.

I can tell you that this is by far not a Falcon.

I got it taken care of Ian. I picked around the outside of the fuse where you could seen the glue line. The tube came out with minimal effort. I elongated the hole, attached the wings and reglued the tube.

IfI received the kit, and noticed the poor wing alignment, I'd send it back........not acceptable INMYVIEW

Again, let's keep focused on the issue here.

Keep in mind:

It's a $500 jet frame and I have also have read alot before my purchase. I am content with what I have and I fully expect to find a few flaws. If this is the worst then I am tickled to death.

Fair enough, as long as you are happy with your model http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gif

If you want advise on servo's and anything else for that matter, put a link in your post so we don't have to go searching for the item in question.

I had a Falcon 120, and with the view of strapping a turbine to the back, I set about re engineering the airframe! I removed most of the bottom skin from the wings to find that there was little if no glue holding the whole thing together!!!! After much work on the complete airframe, I ended up with quite a nice flying aircraft!
The V3 has most of those mods covered and I must say that I am thinking of having one myself!
There will always be additional work to do on any model, but I feel that it is reflected in the price, which is I might add, very reasonable for what you get!

What's the biggest diff between V2 and V3? Well said Phall. $500 bucks beats the heck out of a set of plans and stack of balsa but I would take that as well.

Does anybody have pictures of their nose gear installation? I have cut away most of my mounting blocks and think that I need to do a total redo.

Call me tomorrow, you have the wrong tiller assembly for the nose strut. This set should have our offset tiller to clear the rail.

Hi, I am about to glue my rudders in on my V3 and I keep looking at those small pin hinges and tend to agree with you.  I honestly think that they will be ok as there are not tremendous forces on the rudders.  However, this is a jet and even though it is not a speed demon, I fell better going that one step further if possible.  I am going to use regular Robart Hinges on mine if they look like they will fit ok.  If you want, I can let you know what I think after trying it.</p>

RE: Need Modellbau V3 Tornado Input

I used Robart hinges on my rudders as well. I agree with you
I'm sure the knock offs included in the kit would of been fine, but I wanted
that extra warm fuzzy feeling.

Heres a few pics of mine for grins. I couldnt be any happier with my V3 its def a huge improvement over the V2 I had and i was very satisfied with it as well. Henry has started a revolution of sorts, people who never would have thought of having a turbine are jumping right in.
