Hello All
I would like to get more information to use a single vertical tail in Hotspot. Stability is ok ? construction problems ? Photo: Gustavo Alonso - Hurricane Robert I wish all a happy new year and a good start for the saison 2015 |
Diggin' from the grave... I bought a virgin hotspot kit last week, so currently shes in transit. Not sure if its a new version kit yet. Lets hope it is assuming few, if any, first generation kits are still around! I'm planning on molding this airframe and making composite wings/tails to boot! If you're interested, PM me:)

While trying to find a project for this winter season..hmmm....My hotspot seems like the perfect candidate.. |
I am in the process of radio and equipment installation on my rebuilt and repainted Hotspot. While I was at I added full (inner and outter ) gear doors and I am mostly pleased with how they fit and look. It was previously powered by a very old AMT Mercury with estimated 16 lbs of thrust. I now have a brand new Jet Central Rabbit with approx 23 lbs of thrust for it. I would like to ad a smoke system but that wont happen till after the initial flights, if it happens at all. Hoping to have it flown in the next couple of weeks.
I also have one never been started kit on hand still. |

Hot Spot reflex: Can anyone comment on the ver. 2 with reflex? Was the reflex simply added to the wings, or was the fuse modified as well? Did Graupner do this, or was this something that was done aftermarket? Is Air-Tech Team still offering the airframe?
Thanks, Greg |

Kelly,
Here are the pictures of the wing root, i know they don't tell you much without a proper reference point. But if you want i can trace the outline of the root airfoil on some paper, scan and send it to you. If you need any more measurements just let me know. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/691/6pgs.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/850/hwyr.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/138/ijdt.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/35/d5u0.jpg @Carlos; I'm not using any extra screws on the fins, they are just wedged between the fuse and wings. Maybe the flutter just becomes an issue once you add rudders? Or maybe i'm still too slow to have problems with it. Regarding rudder servo's, you might want to look into the MKS DS6125 servo, full alluminum servo case with titanium gear train, absolutely zero slop and almost double the torque of similar servo's. Regards, Bart. Can you send me a tracing of the wing root? Thanks, Greg [email protected] |

I wouldn't worry much about the reflex. Just be prepared on take-off. Make sure to have plenty of trim available. Maybe put about a quarter inch in for test flight.

Fun to watch George. Its facinating to see how much those tails flex. It appears you have no rudders correct? Did you reinforce them?

Kevlar reinforcements also in the main fuselage . Build for speed and for p-160 :) |
