FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

1 Attachment(s)
What a way to start the new year! Loving my 1/4.5 scale hawk as I am, I was delighted to see the first photos of the new giant scale hawk fuselage moulding. James and I have been discussing this for a while now, and I have to say. I was hoping that it would make an appearance early on this year, but day 1!!! What a start.
Loving the fact its got a decent size access hatch! If it remains as user-friendly and a practical a plane as my current FEJ hawk is right now, then I am going to be one happy hawk pilot in 2013.
Cant wait to see the sheer size that the Hawk 100 fuselage is going to come in at!
Now. Decisions, decisions.... What colour is a boy to choose :D

Just how big are they going to get. looks nice but would have to rethink your transportation for one of those

Old Fly Eagle seem to have gotten back in vouge lately. They were not so popular a year or so ago. What has suddenly happened ?

Better do it in a middle eastern colour. Better sale value that way :D

FEJ has been at just about every major event flying the snot out of their planes. At BITW Skymaster was nowhere to be found... No promotion, no awareness.

FEJ needs to stop it! I can't do 5 jets, 4 has to be my limit LOL
Like Ali said decisions, decisions! Lucky for me I have some time in the mountains to think about it [:'(]

Whats the length of that beast?

Jamie.
I am actually seriously considering that scheme. I hated it when I first saw it, but I have a small Viper done in it and its goring on me.. fast ! Although I have my fingers crossed that FEJ might do me a 100 variant quite soon, as its the ugly long nose of the 100 that I really like.

Regards Al

Nothing wrong with the good old camoflage scheme and no one does it anymore.

LOL.. I must be regressing. I spent a few years living in a town called Goring [&:]

Anyway. I think I am going to go with the 2012 display colours. There are a few bits on it I dont like, but I guess it will stand out well in the sky! Thats is unless I can get a Hawk 100 in the same time frame.

I can't stop thinking on this big bird , this one will be my dream MACHINE that I was waiting for long time (sorry wife vacation next year lol) , I just upset because I have a brand new p-180RX in the box , and James told me that I need a bigger engine to power this Big bird , anyway I will keep waiting .

Ali 01-02-2013 07:41 AM

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

I too think a 180 will be just too little thrust. It will fly it I am sure, but not how you would want a hawk to fly.

mario tavarez14 01-02-2013 08:02 AM

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Ali I want to fly the hawk with power with reserve went I need it for vertical , I don't want to feel empty wih power

Robrow 01-02-2013 08:08 AM

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Fantastic, now that's big Ali! The only toy hawk I ever flew had a prop at the front and was maybe a couple of decades ago [:'(]

I was wondering if they replicated any of the flight characteristics of the fullsize? Is a retrim (nose pitch down) required with the flap switch in the landing position?

Rob.

Hi

Happy New Year to all.

Maybe a 180 can do the job. Depends on the overall weight. Same lenght as SG ot TH and both can fly with 160.

Can they do it with same weight? Let's wait and see....I'll be looking closely;)

By the way, as FEJ improved their cockpits?

Regards

Nuno

Yes Maybe a 180 can do the job , i am not going crazy i will wait to see the result , i am agree same size like Skygate 160 or 180 now lets see how FEJ will handle he weight of this baby

Just how big are they going to get. looks nice but would have to rethink your transportation for one of those

Old Fly Eagle seem to have gotten back in vouge lately. They were not so popular a year or so ago. What has suddenly happened ?

I'm sure FEJ is THRILLED that you are soley responsible forsaving themfrom impending failure...

As usual never a missed opportunity to brag about yourself.

Hawk is real nice looking BTW.

hey friends
just to give you spec on f e j website
124 inch leng
and 99 wing

just a bit smaller than tomohawk so i think mammoth is perfect for me and my partner

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Hi,

I was interested in the FEJ hawk because of the scale 1:3.5 !!.
It would be an option to the Tomahawk Hawk 1:3.5.
But then i compared the datas and now i am afraid the FEJ Hawk is not 1:3.5 its more 1:3.8
The Original Hawk has a length of 11,90m an a wingspan of 9.4m. So the length in scale 1:3.5 should be 3.4m and a wingspan of 2,7m.
The FEJ is only 3.17m and windspan 2.53m so not 1:3.5 !!
Tomahawk design is selling the Hawk in scale 1:3.5 with a length of 3.4m and a winspan of 2.7m

So i think the FEJ Hawk seems to be smaller than they are selling it ?

kind regards
Andi

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

first videos just went live. This is the very first prototype to prove the design. The gear is from the smaller hawk and was only fitted in order to get the test flights done. I have asked the factory if it is possible to get a little bit of Dihedral.

Oh and out of interest. The turbine is an old ATJ pushing out around 15 kg of thrust!
