Hi

I am working to find a solution! not easy because the nose gear need 100° to retract the wheel fully! and the gear is going up to the front of nose

DominicM 10-21-2013 03:53 AM

Needed that for my Futura 1.9. Lado gave me a RS999 with 100deg frame and reversed trunion. Works great.

Sounds like the 1.9 Futura gear would work. It does the same.

I think JP is talking about finding an air retract to replace the electric version he already has working.

Futura nose gear retracts forward and is 100 degree and is air. made by turbo ditti

Maiden my new Wizard 2 weeks ago, only 6 flights so far. Very impressed by the flying pattern, lots of agility on all axis and slow landing with full flaps.
Weight only 11,5 Kg dry, powered by a 140 XBL. A nice sport jet for every weekend, easy to assemble and lots of pleasure in the air !

Anything build wise to be aware of?

I ordered mine pre-assembled to stage 3 (and painted) therefore I cannot comment much on the build itself. I had to install the servos, radio, retracts, tank and turbine (easy stuff).
I used BLS452 servos and had to slightly adjust the size of the mounting ply to be glued on the servo hatches, the cut fits for Savox originally. Also I had to do minor ajustements to fit the retracts in position. I replaced the 2 screws securing the wings onto the fuselage by 2 home made screws that I can screw with my hand only, this is much easier than using an allen key in the small space available. Then you will need more than 2 hands to glue in place the large canopy onto the top hatch... Other than that I can't recall anything but just following the documentation. The CoG is just spot on as well are the servo recommended throws and flaps to elevator mix. Here are some pics of the inside before I replaced the 140RX by a 140XBL due to a failure of my brand new jetcat... I believe my CoG is even more backward since the different position of the 140XBL vs the 140RX. On inverted flight, there is very little need of down elevator to maintain the level.
I found the 3,2 liters tank a bit too small, I gives only 6 mn of flight autonomy (with a reserve of 1mn to land), I think I'll upgrade to 4 liters soon...

Nice install :-)

Thanks for the info it's really helpful, mine to will be stage 3 build but not painted. I have opted for the 4.2 ltr split tank, which sounds like the right decision plus it gives me the option to run smoke.

I'm going Powerbox Powerbus so most wiring will be simple.

Cheers

Hi JP

Mine will be similar to yours inc the white box unit as Colin should have asked you for one for me (he's collecting mine from you at Jet Power).

Only difference is I'll Powerbus the main controls

Great news looking forward to it. I have a nice paint scheme in mind and will post once done.

Yes, it's coming back with yours. Mines not the posh kit though, just the bog standard one. I really am not convinced on the electric retracts but Colin as assured me that they will be absolutely brilliant and I'll never look back..... I hope he's right:mad: :D

Well got mine and did a trial fit and very impressed with everything. Thanks to JP all I have to do is bolt all the radio bits in and get it painted ;)http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2035013

Thruster 09-28-2014 09:57 AM

Well spent a few hours today on the Wirard and got all servos in other than the elevators (don't have them yet) linkages done and all cable lengths sorted. As I'm going powerbus I need a couple more leads to complete. I made a box just below the rudder to hold the PB converter and cables - works well

fuel tank done and Radio bay mostly laid out, just waiting for the "white box" unit to finish.

Everything fitted so good only minor sanding on formers needed.

Only surprise for me is the small amount of movement needed for ailerons- my instinct was to get more but after checking the instructions I had more than stated ;)

I'll post some pics shortly

jetster81 09-28-2014 10:21 AM

I was at the Jet fly in at Maubeuge yesterday and JP was flying his and there was another also, got to say that is one smooth plane. I'm sure it will not disappoint.

Thruster 09-28-2014 11:10 AM

Everything I see with it just gets better and better.

example is the tank fits exceptionally well and easily removable. Formers have holes in the right places for cables etc where I built the PB converter box in the tail was simple as it had space.

Minor comment is that the fit is so good between flap and aireron that it rubbed on the roam core but again with a little sanding all sorted (5 mins job)

Normally when you look close and long you find issues or blemishes, and most know what I'm like, not much to find - JP keep it up ;)

all good old indicators so far

Thanks to Colin from Boomerang Jets for the suggestion.
