BVM is running their fall sale so 500 off a bobcat really made the decision for me since I have just about everything else I need for it at the house. I'm thinking about running gyros on the ailerons and rudders. Anyone tried the new igyro? Any easier than running 370A's?

Good choice. Using stuff in the shop keeps the $$ in check.

Gyros on a bobcat? Yes please!! Although we have flown them for years without, everything flies better and easier with gyros. I am using 3 370a gyros, one one each aileron to allow crow, and one on the y'ed rudders. Nose wheel is on its own channel, no gyro.

i use the dx 18, it has some great built in features that allow the gains to be controlled based on flap position and ail and rudder stick position. Basically the faster you fly the less gain you can use. Also, I have curve mixes set where the gyros mainly are active when sticks are centered. The more control you command in roll or yaw the less active the gyro becomes. This allows rolls and snaps to be unaffected but once returned to neutral, the plane is extremely "solid".

the igyro is another solution, while it does similar, the approach is different.

i will ill probably just go with the 370a's. I use a dx18 as well. I may need to get in touch with you and pick your brain on your setup at some point if you don't mind. Do you have any pics of your install? Pics I've seen of the bobcat composite look like It could get pretty full pretty quick. Thanks for your input.

Are the 370a's good to run on a123 without a regulator?

Dustin Buescher 11-09-2013 04:53 PM

I'm using dual lifepo from duralite. No regs.

ill be happy to answer questions, even snap a photo too! Call me at BVM on Monday.

What rudder servos are you all using on the rudders on the bobcat composite? I see that jr398s are on the spec sheet but I also came across a slightly older spec sheet which spec 9411s...

9411 will not fit in the rudder.
i used the 3301 but they have plastic gears- if you bounce on landing and touch the rudder, the gears get stripped.
im now using 3421 (3401 in the UK), MG and have not stripped a gear since.
