NO more trailer

HI all, no need for a trailer any more, looking at the New Dodge Promaster Van, it" got twice the volume that my GMC Safari has, and its new. Just think of all the Jets that will fit in their.
The 136' wheelbase is 300 cu.feet at 10'x6'x5' high. Also 2 roof heights.

Are they 70k in Canada? You can buy two for that money here in the states.

I'm getting one of these for my next trailer, cheaper than a trailer.

The Aurora roof box impresses me more then a larger van. Simply ingenious!

My friend just got the van for the construction company for $28000 new

Jetflyer3000 11-25-2013 11:46 PM

I just use a second hand people carrier with the seats removed in the rear.. This way you have the quality of a 'car' but the space of a van.

In the UK you can pick up one for around £1500

I really dislike front wheel drive on trucks! The sideways engine is another problem.
Both have ended up costing me money in the past!

4ptroll 11-26-2013 03:45 AM

I got the Nisaan NV. Same kind of truck and it's awesome. I can fit 4 jets in mine.

I've been telling the wife, that I'm going to find a used sprinter. I figure I can pick it up cheap, and put in basic living inside. Kind of like an industrial RV. I figure I can do it all for under $10k.

I have a 05 Ford E250 cargo van. Hauls everything.

Quikturn 11-26-2013 07:09 AM

I just bought a used Chevy Astro AWD for the same purpose. Makes a great winter vehicle too!

Remember the days when all you wanted was that new cox control line plane and all you had to do was sell 20 boxes of greeting cards to get it?

For those that go and always fly in the same club, instead of buying a trailer or a van have you ever thought about installing containers and use them as a warehouse were you can leave your planes ?

In our club we decided to do this some time ago and it has worked wonderfully. Instead of having all the planes at home and having the wife complaining every single day about the amount of space that your "toys" are using, and instead of exposing your models to some possible damage because of constant transportation, you just have your planes ready to fly at the club.

my idea as well, but good luck finding one for under $10K that doesnt have 250K miles on it or has been wrecked.

Yup and more cuts on the hands that summer than ever before. Boiling props to keep them from coming apart, Dry cells for lighting the glo plug, upgrading the Lil Satan to a TDEE .049, throwing up after putting too large a gas tank on the plane. Ambroid glue. Still remember how the fuel stung in the latest cut and how cold the hands got from the fuel in the winter. AHHH 12 years old and full of pizz and vinegar.
