Models for the Wren 44 - AGAIN!
Hi guys - I know there has been at least one thread about this before, but most of those models are unavailable now as the thread is
very old. I have a 44 Gold lying around doing nothing, and am looking for a new airframe that would be a nice, everyday flyer (preferrably scale, but a nice sport jet will do as well! :) Any good, new suggestions out there?? Thanks! Tor |
Aviation Design E-Scorpion?
I haven't seen one but I might be tempted if I had a Wren 44 spare. I'm not sure what the performance would be like with a 44 but it is a recommended turbine option. |
Tuono Easy?

Asked my self the same question last spring.
I ended up putting mine on a Blanik 4 meter glider, I love it. Plane is over 30 lbs but flies nice, there is a forum on the Blanik here on RCU. Other options I considered, e-scorpion, yellow F4, Skymaster electric platforms like the f15, if you had two 44's their A10 would be neat! of course the Savox L39 and F16 are made for the wren, then there are a few Hawks out there, FlyFly has one I considered, but I would not trust that one without major redesign to strengthen it up. Good Luck, keep us posted on what you decide. Richard |

Grumania has a few options.

Savex still have their F-16 & L-39 listed.
http://www.savex.cz/prod.php?lang=en Just put a post up to keep the F-16 thread alive, I have one that needs a bit of love. John. |
How about a glider conversion? I have an old silver one on a Top model Swift 3.7mtr.

Russ at Thorjet has made a super F-20 that would be a good Wren 44 model, has worked on a HS Gnat Kit, and is also planning a Harrier along with others, many of which would be fine for a Wren 44 Gold. I don't know how near production he is however. Here's his facebook page:

AH yes, forgot about Thorjet, well worth considering.

Jet Hangar has a wide selection of 44 Gold size machinery:

Thanks guys - quite a few good suggestions here! What I forgot to say that I am not to keen on "kits" - i.e. having to build everything, plank and glass wings etc,
I am hoping for something where I simply have to install stuff instead of build stuff!! :) Keep'em coming!! |
Thanks John - I have the L-39 with another 44 Gold, great flyer and looks good in the air! (And although I love F-16's, I have a SM 1:6 and want something else for a small jet!) :)

The JHH A-7 arf would be a good choice....I just happen to have one if you're interested. I has only flown twice as an EDF and would easily convert.
|
That sounds interesting - could you post a picture of it?

where did you order Mini Avanti ? Indicative price ? Thank you and happy flying |
The mini Avanti list price is 500 Euros. Availability is currently expected for May/June.
However, it has only been tested on a Jetcat P-20 as far as I know. I don't think it has flown with a Wren 44 (yet) so may or may not be suitable. P-20 is currently the recommended turbine. |

So, 500€ + landing gear + P20 would be the best set, correct ? Any link to shops where it's already possible to see the kit and possibly pre-order it ? Thank you again & happy flying :) |
500 Euros includes the electric landing gear. P20 conversion kit is 60 Euros.
There is another thread on RCU about the Mini Avanti S to avoid taking this one too far off track! |
Ok very good thank you :)

HSD SuperViper and F16, both 105mm EDF. Very good choices for Wren44/Kingtech K45

I was going to say Savox L-39 but I see you already have one. I never had one but I used to watch a guy at my field fly one with Wren 44 power and it flew quite well. A rugged little ship too. How about a Yellow Aircraft Stingray. They are discontinued but Im sure one can be found. The Jet Hangar A-7 has always interested me. I have not seen one fly but I hear they fly quite well, like all Jet Hangar aircraft do.
