Yea... the 320 is a lot for that.... it has to be mounted so far forward you need to modify the intakes to get it to balance without adding weight

Westwindpilot86 12-31-2018 06:49 PM

I'm going with the 260. Middle of the road. Has a bit more vertical without having to change alot in the fuselage to fit a 320. And what made kingtech switch it from a 310 to a 320? Still confused on that one.

sameem83 12-31-2018 07:07 PM

Yes I agree I’m going to get the 210

Digital Pilot 12-31-2018 07:27 PM

Ive built 2 T-3's with 210's in them and they flew great! I now have my personal one with a 260 in it and its probably the best combo for the jet in my opinion. Chris can tell you the 310 is just an animal in that bird, Moon flights anyone? lol

Its all about energy and throttle management. You could fly that jet and have a great time with it on a 180 honestly, just might not be the fasted T-3 out there.....

Westwindpilot86 12-31-2018 07:31 PM

Digital pilots video is awesome. You can tell there is plenty of power from that 260 but not too much. The 260 will also let me go to higher altitudes fields without sacrificing any power.

With a PBS 230N the fastest I recorded was 209mph and that was out of a dive. Max level flight was around 190mph. Normal passes were around 175mph.

The airframe is not meant to be “fast”.

K210 will fly it just fine. 230-260N is what I would personally prefer for the vertical performance. The lighter weight of the 210N will further enhance the phenomenal slow speed/landing performance so there is an upside to using it versus a larger engine.

With a 300N+ turbine in my opinion you risk flutter/airframe failure if you are not careful with the left stick. This is just my opinion but loosely based on observations so the statement may be entirely inaccurate, so no flame throwing please. :)

Its a great airframe! Enjoy!

Digital Pilot 02-20-2019 11:48 AM

I do....

Westwindpilot86 02-24-2019 09:05 PM

Got a question for you guys. I know that there are 2 clamps that hold each wing panel on. But on the front of the wing there is a metal tab and I am curious what size screw goes into the fuselage and than the metal tab on the wing. Thanks in advance.

Steven

Good day Steven

The screws are 3mm hex head, about 25mm long. Be sure to check fitment.

Enjoy, Its an awesome jet!!!

Westwindpilot86 02-28-2019 03:42 PM

Thanks digital,
got one more question. What are you mixing for flaps? Any elevator?

Thanks

All you can get out of the flaps, I use Flight Modes so im not sure the percentage of down elevator but its not much. Ill start getting it ready for FL Jets in about a week and i can check then..

Westwindpilot86 02-28-2019 07:16 PM

Awesome. I plan on maidenning Sunday, so I'll start with 2-3 percent down elevator and go from there. Good luck at Florida jets.

WOW!!! What a great flying jet. Cant believe it took me this long to get it up and going. Put four flights on it today. Half of the second and fourth flights I gave the TX to another pilot to see how they liked it.
Digital, I let Chris Pry fly it for a few minutes of that second flight. He told me you have been his turbine sign-off guy back in Huntsville. So I had no issue letting him fly it. Couple things I want to change after a few more flights. I put my CG at
343mm for todays flights and found I needed quite a few clicks of up trim on the maiden. So I will be moving it back to about 350mm for next weekend. Also, this is no issue of the jets, but my rudder servo is always jittering, so I will be putting in a new mks777a+'s
starting with rudder and probably the flaps next. But I really look forward to tons of more flights with it.

Pics will be coming, just waiting on some emails from people.

Steven, Glad it all came together. The T-3 is one of the best flying sport jets on market for sure. Did you dial in some crow? That's great that Chris got some time on your bird, he has the bug bad now lol.
The T-3 Has a big CG range, We like to start at a safe point witch is always a little nose heavy but most move it back to there liking. What servo do you have in it now? Are you running Spektrum by chance?

Pics look great man, Enjoy that awesome jet and have fun!!!

Jeff

Westwindpilot86 03-04-2019 08:56 AM

Jeff,

There a few different servos in the jet.
Flaps and ailerons have futaba 9157s.
Elevators are jr 8911s.
Rudder is a jr 8611a. And I believe that 8611 just has a bit to much slop. I am flying futaba.

But I will be moving my CG back to 350 for this weekend and put a different servo in the rudder.
