The vertical launch did look spectacular. The commentator just needs to get a bit more enthusiasm going on :)

They say 4.5 to 120n all the video of the turbine version is with the 120.....

If this is your first jet, this would be just about the worst choice ever........

Helijet 09-23-2019 03:04 PM

Really? Why?

I have the SAB Havok, and because that’s what I think.....if you think it will be a great trainer underpowered with a K45G3 go ahead said that, I don’t believe it’s a good idea!

We fly super fast funjet, the SAB funjet as well ...F5B and turbine...from Ultra Flashes to mini Avantis.... was hoping this would be a funJet with warp drive...

SAB are now taking pre-orders 😀

T3chDad 10-21-2019 10:52 AM

SAB Avio USA says that this is due in the States February 2020...although a few might trickle in during January.

T3chDad 01-23-2020 05:15 AM

I ordered mine. Hopefully HeliDirect/SABAvio USA will get them in the next week or so, and then on to me. The accessories such as thrust vectoring and turbine conversion are not yet available for order on their website.

T3chDad 01-27-2020 01:34 PM

They are in! Accessories are available for order as well. Mine will be delivered in a couple days!

Hello,
I just test flew my Drake last week.
The airframe is great but the retract units from SAB have very poor instructions.
I wasn't able to get the gear doors to operate thru the SAB Unit although there is a provision
Also while the retracts worked perfectly on the ground, It refused to work in the air after take off
So test flight was with Gear down and doors open.
Has anybody a better understanding of the SAB retracts ? Is there some setting to maybe increase the stalling current to the retract motors ?
Any ideas what it should be ?
Regards
Nandan

You running the controller on 2s 8.4v?
All the SAB retracts I have been involved with only worked if the model speed was kept down and no hard G when trying to retract, they trip out.
Brakes are worse than retracts 🙂

Nice build on Waterford Model Flying Club's (Ireland) facebook page with some decent pics :)))
[Ultra Quick Build @ 7.5hrs; 6.5Kg AUW (P60SE (Dry)); flight testing to follow ...]

8.4v 2 cell lipo Dave
Brakes seemed ok
Wonder if the ER50 Unit will work with the retracts

Questions on the SAB retracts for Lizzard

Working on the Lizzard and the Retracts have me puzzled a bit. I have five wires that have the connectors on them that plug into the retracts and the brakes and they have bare wires on the end. In the retract kit there is one JST style connector with bare wire at one end. To make it short and sweet, How am I supposed to connect them to the control unit and how do I power it up. Do I plug the power cable into a empty port on my Receiver and the 2 cell lipo powers the servos and the controller together? Anyone have this working that could help with some pictures etc? I think I need to put JST connectors on the bare ends, not sure though.

Thanks,
Matthew

I'm working on a build guide to supplement the manual so I had just taken this picture for that. You will need to put two-pin male Dupont (servo) connectors on the bare ends of the gear and brake cables. Those will plug into the appropriate receptacles on the controller unit. The JST connector is for your power/battery connection into the gear system (2S LiFe or LiPo). If you don't have a crimp/connector set for the Dupont connectors, you can cut up and splice an old servo extension on the end to give you the connection you need. I hope this makes since. I will be working on the gear next so please yell if you have any questions.

Dansy 02-07-2020 05:46 AM

On the Havok they had connectorS....strange that they send wires without them....especially when the gear is in the fuselage....cost saving or errors makes you wonder... ;)

Now that I'm home from work I had a chance to verify the gear connections. You do need two-pin Dupont connectors to fit into the gear controller as shown in these pictures.

In that case, I think I'll stick with the Xicoy LG15.
