FIRST IN FLIGHT JET RALLY POSTPONED to Sept 2nd -Sept 6th
That's right folks. Its looking more and more like we are going to be restricted from holding our annual May dates, so we are making the call now to allow pilots, vendors and the City of Wilson to adjust their plans. In talking with city officials, they are very concerned state and county restrictions are going to get a tougher in the coming weeks, and like us they REALLY want this event to happen in 2020. So after many MANY phone calls to our regular vendors, staff workers, the city and other jet event coordinators we are making the call now. Several events have already been cancelled or moved and we are trying our best not to overlap them or place us too close in dates so you guys can attend all of them. The two weeks we were looking at were the end of October or the first week of September. As many of you have seen already, Top Gun just rescheduled their event for the 4th week of October. Although it's not a jet event, its is a valued traditional event attended by many of you jet jockeys and an event not to be missed! No doubt Frank made the right call and now we feel it's time to do the same. So with that!!!! Everyone mark their calendars for September 2nd through 6th 2020 for the First in Flight Jet Rally. Same format, same fun, and just like our May event it falls on a 3 day weekend for many. More info to follow but we wanted to get the word out now. Information regarding those who have pre-registered already will be addressed. We're really looking forward to getting this event in, and we know this move will greatly enhance that opportunity. Thanks for all the text, phone calls and support guys. It's awesome to hear you fellas are being so supportive with us moving the dates.
I wanted to address the many pilots who have already registered, rented tents, sponsors and more. Unless you feel its in your best interest to cancel, we're keeping everyone on file in the order you placed it. Amazingly, we only had a couple of cancellations during these last couple of weeks. That being our friends from Canada. With borders being closed off I would have done the same! After changing the dates of our event one of those registered pilots has already requested to be put back in the line up, and the other is now looking at their schedule in hopes they can make the new date. So with this recent change here is what we plan to do. Unless you contact me requesting to cancel, You have your spot locked in. Should you need to cancel, just let me know and you will receive a full refund. We realize we have turned the tables somewhat on everyone's summer plans, and totally understand you may already have other plans or obligations. That's said, we REALLY hope you can adjust your schedule to fit us in. Website and Face Book has been updated. New cancellation deadlines have been posted, and we are keeping the FIF train rolling! Worth noting, the vendors we use for shirts, tents, food,rentals and all the services we require are thrilled we will continue our support to them. They need it now more than ever! ...jim We are counting on it! Your camping spot awaits you! Really hoping this stuff passes in time for them to open up the borders. I think pushing it off until September will make that possible. We have more Canadians coming this year than ever and we want to do what we can to facilitate that. ;) You and Ann be safe, and we'll see you soon as we can. |

We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time of uncertainty. With exception to just a couple, EVERYONE seems to have hung in there and not cancelled. We even had a new one roll in yesterday. That's awesome news to us and we're really excited about keep the FIF train rolling. The local business vendors we use are very happy as well. They have some tough times ahead of them in the coming weeks, and although delayed our hopes are we will help them in their rebound efforts.
Hope everyone is doing their part to help get on top of this awful virus. We Will overcome it, and we'll all be back on the flight line soon. |

I'm sorry to hear the dates it landed on because I was planning to attend this year if possible but it landed on an event I have been going to for 10 or 12 years now.
I guess its going to be the story of the year though with all the spring events getting cancelled and moved to the fall they are going to be stepping all over each other. |

Hey Guys!
Just stopping in to say howdy, and hoping all of you are doing well during this virus situation. Looks like many of you are managing to get out and burn some fuel with a few buddies while we wait this thing out. FIF is still set for September and we'll be so happy to get it underway! For now, we're just sitting back and letting everyone deal with this as needed. We're not going to be hounding sponsors or pilots and we're just gonna deal with todays matters. As expected, registrations have come to a big slow down, but when you are ready to do so, the web-site is open. Personally I'm grateful to all those who have already registered and elected to leave their registration in place for now. If for any reason you need to cancel, we will provide a 100% refund. Fortunately/unfortunately we now have 4 lonnnnnnnnng months ahead of us to plan! lol Weather in NC is pretty nice in September, so having to wait it out a little may pay out rewards. We'll update you guys with anything new that may pop up, but for now let's all get though this thing, and still try to get out for some "Aerotherapy" whenever possible. Gotta keep those thumbs in tune so you can knock holes in the NC clouds come September! Stay safe, and take this time to enjoy things we may have overlooked in our usual schedules. Larry |
