OK thought it was 6mm clear.
Didn’t measure it, Bubble trap full and some in main tanks to wet clunks. Dave |
Few more things checked off the to do list. One of these was to pull the pipe and shorten it a bit. I think it looks much better now. Once that was done I could install the Jets Munt M250XBL. The mounting holes for this engine end up being almost directly on the edge of the bypass. To get around this issue I installed some M4 blind nuts upside down after first opening up some clearance holes in the bypass. The M250 also has a short nozzle and consequently needs to be slurred pretty far back as well. It’s a tight installation but it worked out quite well.

There are large areas around the fuselage skin that are std CARF glass layup. I used a torch to find these and placed the aerials there.
In this picture you can just see the Orange paint on mine shining through from a torch held under. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...28c0a082d.jpeg |
How do you like the M250 engine?
I might need one :) |

Dave Wilshere flew his CARF Bolt today at the Elvington Meeting, looking superb as always, and very fast, will post more over the coming days.

Very, very tempting....

Managed plenty of flying on the Bolt over the last few weeks, hit 40 flights and everything is working perfectly.
Thanks to JP-1 for flying shots, there was another video done yesterday to show it off grass. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...35942191a.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...5b0f28666.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...783aafe0f.jpeg |
Like D.W. said the Bolt and all the systems handle the grass (sod) with no trouble at all

One year ago today I test flew the Bolt at our National flying centre and we were back there this last weekend. I still have not had the chance to take the Bolt to one of the really open space airfields we can get access to, but even at moderate high speeds it’s an amazing flying machine. Certainly the best sports jet I have flown fast and slow performance, with real grass capability.
As someone commented yesterday it does not need to be flown at crazy speeds…but it can be 😉 One year on I’ve still not charged the ECU pack, as the JetCat P-220:generator deals with that. The large retract battery I fitted I have topped up once in the last 12 months! New video of two Bolts tearing up the sky
|
Video from early this season. The site has trees on the end of the runway and slopes right to left, this flight shows to tight envelope the Bolt can also fly.
