I would have another kangaroo if one came up for a good price locally. I miss mine. |
You are damn right. That's one of the best jets to fly.
I miss mine. E.N.T. |

Because they are an awesome jet that brings a lot of nostalgia to many people. Imo they look and fly better than a lot of the "jets" available today.

First flight after lockdown 2021 First jet flight after lockdown was with my Roo.. I kept it mothballed for more than a year and with almost no maintainance other than some spray contact cleaner as a precaution it flew as good as ever. Need to say that I felt that same adrenaline rush and elation from 20 years ago? :-) |
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...39a0ffd735.jpgThe year was 2000. At that time all these kangaroos were from fiberclassics and all were RAM750 powered. I built mine with the vertical fins canted in like the hotspot.
They were such a fun jet! |
I ask just for fun and to see the reaction of some of the guys 😁😁
The roo was my first jet, love it and had lots fun with it, it was so much fun that when a friend of mine decided to sell his roo two years ago, I told him that I was going to take it, I got around 10 flights and decided that I was going to change the engine mount and this time I will mount my 27# trust turbine, so it seats in the dark room for now awaiting his turn to fly again 🤪 my roo is about 15 years old but it's in excellent shape, I also know of another roo in my club owned by a mbee that's trying to get into jets. |

Always like the kangaroo. I like the fact that the engine sits right on top of the fuselage, they look great and they are very very fast.
I just purchased a brand new one never flown. I’m going to put a Jet Central bee 80 SE then finish putting it together then paint it. but I’m always looking for a second one that would be great. If anyone had a one they will part with let me know https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...e056110cc.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...4f746b31d.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...f7cda162c.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...e3dfd3b90.jpeg |
Looks nice, congrats!
As I been told, the Kangaroo was designed by German modellers after a long trip to Asia in wich a turbine demonstration went not so well... so they designed in a napkin while flying back to Germany a simple and practical model, with a exposed turbine and no thrust tube than could be used as a engine test stand with wings.. with a Mig 29 look on it. Initially it was named "TurboTrainer" but after the first landings it was named Kangaroo because of its tendency to jump... I was In Metropolis, in 1998 when Andreas, Wolfgang and Thomas demonstrated the model at the Superman jet rally.. at the time his company was called FIberclassics and the fiberglass fuselage/veneer covered foam wings and balsa stick structure rudders were sold for Us$ 300 (!) It was amazing to watch this demo, and I get hooked on this plane... I have other jets, some scale, other faster (in particular that specially modified Hotspot) but i never logged so many hours of fun with other plane like this one. It is a great design. |

Robarts retracts and struts are on mine, they work just fine, the prolink should also work fine, a bit more expensive but they will absorb the hard landings, the one for the Boomerang XL should do the trick.
|
On mine I used Robart gears. They worked very well.

If you like electric retracts, then electric retracts it is, nothing complicated about fitting any retracts in a Roo.
Robart also has them electric now days. https://robart.com/pages/retracts-12-24lbs-630-series |

Using Eurokit retracts for ages... they are quite reliable as they have a automatic failsafe by design.
Today the way to go is electron retracts or similar with trailing link legs . |
