In the process of weathering the top fuselage and placing dry transfers. This photo shows the grey perimeter cushion that interfaces between the conformational fuel tanks and the fuselage. I used grey heat shrink tubing to mimic this and contact adhesive to glue the tubing to the conformational fuel tank. Looks very close to the full-size

Very nice Roy, you might want however to put the filter vertically, because horizontally it can trap bubbles. Or remove it all together... and do the filtration while you refuel. I've removed all the filters from my jets, I've found over time, they do more bad than good.

Anyway, I see your UAT has filter material.....

Great job.

Tassos, I agree there is some controversy on the use of fuel filters, especially if one filters your fuel and using a UAT with the capacity to act as a filter. Tight fit to place vertical and I actually debated whether to put the intairco filter inline. In the end I decided to go with the filter as it is a large capacity one with 6mm inlet/outlets.

soon will be spraying the matte clear on and will post pictures when I get the model done and outside. Tassos can you remind me, are you flying your F16 with tailerons and flaperons and when your flaps are down are they still functioning as flaperons or fixed and just tailerons working?

thanks
Roy

Yes exactly, flaperons and tailerons together. It works very well. Even when the flaps are down, yes.

All the best, Tassos

It may be in the thread somewhere but which paint system (including the matte clear) do you use?

roydefiant 08-22-2024 01:30 PM

Klasskote paints. I will be using spray max 2K matte clear out of can to “dust” the model as soon as humidity drops a little

Wow, if I waited for the humidity to drop I'd never get anything painted. How are you applying the class coat paints? I'm getting ready to do a south east Asia camo scheme on a very large F-100D and was thinking of using Klasscote with the gloss catalyst as I'll be using water slide decals from Tailormade which are best applied to a gloss finish. I normally do base/clear on planes, using the Klasscote it will save me from clearing both before and after the decals.

roydefiant 08-24-2024 06:18 AM

Most of my experience with klasskote is using the satin catalyst. Seems to lay down very well and if you want a gloss finish you can shoot your favorite clear coat over it. I use an HLVP detail gun. I find you have to increase the reducer above klasskote recommendation to spray well with my gun. Like around 30% paint, 30% satin catalyst and 40% reducer or even a little more.

I just picked up more klasskote paint with gloss catalyst for a new project so I’ll be spraying that soon.

Hi roydefiant,
I do see you mounting a Jets Munt 250XBL for powering this marvel plane
Just a thought on my experience with exactly this turbine - the standard factory default value for deceleration is fast - this setting let my turbine reliably to flame out
when the THR stick was moved back fast ! I could easily reproduce this behaviour during ground runs - fast IS too fast for this motor !!
I would strongly recommend to adjust the decelaration setting to slow or even very slow in order to avoid unpleasant flame outs when flying agressivly !
Regards
Hans

roydefiant 08-24-2024 03:32 PM

Thank you Hans for your insight into the 250XBL. I will take your advice and reprogram deceleration before maiden
Roy
