According to Bob, the ailerons (and flaps) will be pre-built. This is to ensure that the proper washout will be put in.

Great looking model that I'm sure will fly great!

The wing is built up because BV likes to win Top Gun and doesn't like the 2% penalty his airplanes received. The ailerons will be pre-built at BVM due to the washout. The airplanes is absolutely stunning even at this stage. It's HUGE and BV is estimating an all-up weight of 30 pounds RTF. I think a P-80 would fly it just fine, a P-120 will be a lot of power. It's going to be very lightly loaded for a jet of this size. It made the F-100 look small to me.

Did anybody get a picture of the tailcone structure that was sitting there assembled next to the plane? I'm sure David would appreciate that. It was a longitudinal CF plank, with the stab dihedral built into it, and a couple of "ring" bulkheads towards either end. There was a set of stabs and the vertical assembled to it. Very nice structure with lightneing holes machine or laser cut so the whole thing weighed about a feather. Gets a rise out of the engineering geek in me. - and I'm not even a big BVM fan.

Looks great - any approximate idea of availability date? Looks like a great next project! [8D]

Patti said June/July was the target. I have a pic of the tail structure on my digital camera.. I just need to get a new USB cable for it since I left it in the hotel room :(

RE: Whatever happened to BV's big Sabre project?

BVM had a sample of the airbrake assembly displayed. It appears it will be an option built as a seperate assembly that is fit into an opening cut out of the fuselage. Everything was contained in a single assembly that had the air cylinder and scale type hinges with a seperate small door that retracts when the brake is opened. The sliding canopy looked great and was very smooth in operation. The wingtips, flaps, and ailerons appeared to be molded rather than a built up structure. The flaps were a "Fowler" style. Word is that there will be a scale cockpit also.
Too bad the wing is builtup instead of molded or foam with some type of molded skin application. The wing is calling out for all the panel lines just like those on the fuselage.
One thing for sure, this large BVM F-86 just accentuates the beautiful lines of this ageless classic jet fighter.

Doug,

Have you picked up a new USB cable yet? I'd like to see the tail structure you mentioned, as well as any other closeups.

Yeah.. I did.. let me pull the images and I'll post them.

#1 - The beast itself. It's a big airplane for sure. Notice the F-86 Walkaround book for scale.
#2 - Sliding Canopy - All worked out for you by BVM. Nothing to self-engineer/scratch head here.
#3 - The fuse view aft. Lots of room to work inside. Simple.. very simple.
#4 - PLENTY of room for a nice detailed cockpit.

Here's the tail structure. It's basically the next evolution from the AFS F-86 with changes to handle the larger size components. Very solid, very simple.

Hi
Does anyone know what the recommended engine size is for this model............120N?

I spy with my little eye...a two-piece fuselage? Split at the aft fuselage bulkhead?

David,
Pattie would not quote a price, but said it would be on the website very soon.
