Damn, I was gonna mention that the downwind landing with no gear and on the grass was also in part due to an AMT engine failure, but David has covered so many bases... [:o]

Only thing I can think is that Eddie is not responding cause he's working on his Flux Capacitor powered Spread Spectrum Tazer Phezzer, however last I heard it needed more beer.

David, I have no idea how you're gonna avoid that bolt of lightning ;)

Had an awesome time with you guys this weekend. Lookin forward to next time.

Back to the flex plates... I just got a price on really stiff Titanium 6AL-4V
and it was over $700... Looks like I will be making them from Grade 2 Titanium.

The only problem with Grade 2 is there is a chance you can bend it on a hard landing
but then it may be fine..

We can test them in David Reid's planes because then we will not have
to wait long for a rough landing... I will have a bunch at Miss AB
but I don't know how well they will work.. We will see..

Where were you last weekend Eddie? I greased every landing with my plane. I think Ray and Phil are your test pilots, that is if you can get them off the worktables long enough to fly. My airplane left Austin in the same shape it got there in.

Update... Found some material... good stuff too... 6AL-4V

Tensile Strength, Ultimate 1035 MPa 150000 psi
Tensile Strength, Yield 980 MPa 142000 psi

Found it on ebay for 4 times less..

Update... All the parts are cut.. The water jet guy really put it to me
so the price is now $80 per plane... (not 75)

The new material is much stronger than the carbon plates and it
does flex some. Even the 0.080, I was unable to bend with two hands..

I will have a bunch at MS in a few weeks where we will test them...
If they past the flight testing then I will start shipping.

I can ship before then but... well... we will see.

I am at that point on my SB and I can take them early if they are a little thinner, hell I can take them now anyway

Ok... The nose plate is 0.121 and the mains are 0.080..

Does any one know if the these will fit a King Cat.. ?

They don't look like they would. The Main flex plates on the Kingcat are not anything like those, and they also have to be able to be put in place and then flexed. The nose gear flex arms look similar but I am pretty sure they are not the same.
