Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
1 Attachment(s)
I suggest some kind of contest :
I first post an interior pix, someone finds out which jet it is, then post a second interior pix and so on.... So what's that ? |
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
T-37???
Is it sitting in your yard? Bet that would get my neighbor's attention[8D] Tommy |
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
I think there are too many wind screen "ribs" there (or whatever they are called) to be a T-37
|
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
F-111 I think
|
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
None of them.
BTW, this aircraft is well known. If no good answer tomorrow, then I'll give a clue... |
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
im not sure the name, but isnt is the prop trainer for the RAF??
|
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
EA-6B Prowler...
Is it in your yard??? Craig |
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
Not sure it's an EA-6.. but it certainly looks like it's from the A-6 family.
|
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
looks like the pit from an A-37 dragon fly
|
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
Hmm,
Is it British? Perhaps something by DeHavilland..or maybe a E-6? Gonna need a clue ..:) |

My guess is the Saab SK 60 A, a jet trainer from Sweden. ...???.. Not?

RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
Or the A-6 Intruder?
Gudmund |
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
Vampire, Venom, Provst? Definitely Brit.

RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
It appears to be a HAL HJT-16 Kiran side-by-side jet trainer developed for the Indian Air Force. While the cockpit does appear similar to a Venom, the Venom's front windscreen is squared off at the top. Most of the other "side-by-side" jets like the Provst, and T/A-37 only have a single frame member right in the center of the windscreen

RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
It's the English Electric Lightning, two seat trainer version. The give-away clues are the hoods over the radar scopes, and the straight strip machmeter at the top of the panel.

RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
Cool, from what I gather the English are quite proud of that bird.

Might be the correct answer to this, as it has the flat front window like the one
Strykaas launched. For sure not Venom, Vampire or Provost, as these are too old to match the equipment and instruments. Can`t find any from a A-6, but I guess mine is out as the HAL HJT 16 is requested. But is the HAL a common aircraft to the mongst? Not to me, anyway. I guess Strykaas have to show up soon! The pix shows the Venom, Vampire and the Provost. Regards Gudmund |
RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
How about the Douglas F3D Skyknight?

It appears that Harry is exactly right. Here's another shot from the opposite side of the cockpit.

RE: Cockpit recognizing : which jet is it ?
ORIGINAL: Goodman Well, this is a photo of the single seater F-6 Frightning, as some pilots called it. Anyone with a two-seater?? Damn, wich is it!!:D Regards Gudmund But if there were ever two aircraft in your life you had to see and hear in flight, it was the Lightning and the Vulcan. In the 1960s at air displays to see the sharp arrow shape of the Lightning come off the runway and disappear vertically atop its twin columns of fire was something else. H |
