Hello JetFans
This morning received the Y/A A4 Skyhawk which am planning to turbinize it with JB50 and Tampipe. Question ? Since this will fly at a faster speed what servos upgrade is recommended over the ducted fan version? She's a beaut scooter:) C Lim www.ArubaRCClub.com |

I would go for Jr 8411's on all the critical surfaces and double check the rudder linkage because flutter is a problem on some of these Jets. The one that flew at Florida Jets with the Artes JB50 turbine flew well but it just wasn't that stable kind of bumpy in flight. I have the same jet and was considering a turbine conversion until I saw it fly in Florida. Maybe yours will be better.[8D]

Hi, On mine I used Volts Wing Max HP on the ailerons and the 2721 metal gears on the elevator and rudder in the trays provided,Any thing more is over kill the plane will weigh in less than the ducted fan version due to the light weight of the Bee, I upgraded to 4-40 pushrods for the rudder and elevator!!! dont forget to glue and glass the rod sleeves in several places so the dont move,I would use the Thrust augmenter pipe!! you will pick up another 1 lb with the JF 50 Bee Only! We have over 50 flights with no problems with this radio set up, for fuel I used 2 round cylinder tanks of 8 0z each under turbine to each side and a 32 oz in-between the intakes If you can get a 40 it will exstend your flight time but not really needed (you will need to cut out some of the intakes) with the uat on top, don't forget to also bolt the main hatch also it could blow off with the ram air pressure, And you must use 6 volt receiver pack with the Bee! Also Good luck, and use spring air retracts milled for the 3/8 robo struts, bvm 2 1/4 wheels and brakes smaller nose and use the scale yellow nose strut you will have allot of fun with that scooter!!!

I don't know why yours would be a little bumpy. I have the ARF camo version and it hauls *** with the J-50 SUPERBEE. Mine flys like it is on rails.. Landings are a little quick though..

Hi,
The only surface you should consider upgrading on is the elevator. The ailerons on this plane need a shockingly small amount of torque, so a nice servo with good centering will be fine. Use big horns on the ailerons so that you have a mechanical leverage advantage. Don't think that because there's a turbine in it that you'll suddenly need to buy $100+ servos for it. If you want to save yourself the trouble of having to bolt down the hatch, you can find an inconspicuous spot on the fuse to make a some small holes (like under the fuse). The A-4 has all kinds of holes/grills/outlets on it that you could simulate. The vacuum created by the wind blowing over those will relieve enough internal pressure that your hatch won't blow off, and you can still keep the convenience of being able to take it off by moving a latch. Hi, For the reciever pack I dont use a regulator, you can if you wish regulate down to 5.7 we just flew a Rafael with the new pipe contact Tad @ Golden West models and it only has 9011 on the surfaces, these have the plastic output gear ran with no problems, you will be fine with what I recomended it has been tested and the plane will be about 14 lbs dry, have fun,,, Thanks Paul AJUSA also you will need the nose weight so plan on using a 6v Jr nicad plus pack about 2000-2400 maH and the pack you got with your turbine ,also get a fod screen from tam jet but use heat shrink to attach to starter cone not the ty-rap..

Hi, Or, you can save yourself the $20 and go get a tea-strainer from Wal-Mart for $1.97 and cut the handle off with a Dremel cutoff disc, then grind a hole in the middle with a sanding drum. Make sure the hole is a little undersize so the fit is snug. Afterward, secure it with a tie-wrap or a thick rubber washer. There are a few different sizes of strainer, so get the one that fits inside the fuel and gas festos. The modification should take you about 180 seconds (if you're slow!). I have been flying big jets for some time and installation of the radio and turbine is easy but the little scooter looks kind of cramp. It's going to be a tyte fit so pre-arrange the whole setup will have to be done . Will consider all the setup described.( The JF50 looks super ) C Lim |
