I feel for you!
You should live in a solid concrete house with electric roll-down window shutters of metal, so when the hurricanes are coming, all you have to do is press a button (on the 10x off course:D) and the windows are sealed off.. I'm glad we don't get weather like that here.. although it would be kind off exiting to experience such extreme weather once...;) |

Thats got be be pretty scary stuff... up here in the woods of Northern Ontario we dont get any weather like that (no bodies of water nearby) but of course you have to live with the "3 month" flying season...

All I want to do is fly my new SM F-15. Ive been waiting for months now. My JR servos were back ordered...now they will finally be here but Florence isnt going to help me out! I had a P-70 for it that I was going to use...but I decided to spend the money and buy a new P-120 which should be here tomorrow. Well, I waited this long...whats another week?

A thing that puzzled me when I visited Florida, is the buildings there, using lots of glass, wood , drywalls and plywood ceilings. How could people build houses with this kind of materials having to cope with this hurricanes almost every year? nor to say about pre-fab houses so light that can be transported already assembled by truck...

I told my wife that if we had to evac, I was taking the trailer. She asked if we were going to stuff it full of belongings. Am I crazy to think my Jets have first priority? She thinks I am. Fortunately, the trailer is big enough so I don't have to tell her she might have to stay behind. K. |

Anthony, if you guys werent so far I would have the wife drop the trailer off :D With her being 7 months prego I sent her packing tonight. She's headed to Georgia.... Going to spend tomorrow packing up the servers at work for a ride out of town too....then back to the house to board up with what wood I was able to scrounge together. Worse still, its heading near the Cape. The Discovery is poised for America's return to human space flight in March '05. Let's hope that is not affected as well as all of the folks in that area of Florida.

Round 1 for me
Hello out there I am from the islands of the bahamas and located on the island of New Providence the capital Nassau. Currently we are experiencing light winds with dark and clouds. Scattered rain fall. Temperature upper 70's to 80's The southern end of the isalnd has been evacuated. We are expecting sea swells of 15 feet high This is the worst hurricane ever The worst is , if it cant get over The Ggreat Bahama bank it will stay there and continue to increase in power until it can break free. Makes it even more dangerous, then she is slower moving. Well, we are in a major mandatory Evacuation mode here in Boca Raton so this is it for us at home rapping it all up. This Hurricane sits three times the size of Andrew and slower ( 13 mph ) so this is not looking too good for anyone in the Tri-County area (South Florida) My business has been completely evacuated as well now the house is being left behind, I wish I had a basement man for all my jets Right now my entire Hangar is in my trailer and the trailer has been put away in a Storage Facility along with the rest of our stuff.

I'll be ok guys, My inlaws house has a "Safe Room", Basically a steel box designed for up to 200mph winds. It's a brand new neighborhood so no trees larger than 15'. The house may be gone but the room will still be standing ;).... If it wasnt for that I would be gone too. Unfortunatly, since my work does $350,000 to $500,000 in business a day I must stick around to secure the systems and remove all the servers from the site at days end.... I am the only one capable of doing this job properly [:o]....

Spoke to my family down in Ft Laud area.... sounds like they are ready for the storm. I'm just a little surprised they have not started draining the canals down yet (as of this morning). They told me some amazing stories of folks buying $60 - $100 a sheet decorative paneling and furnature grade lumber to board up windows.... nothing much else available as of yesterday. I guess its still cheap enough trying to protect a $1200 sliding glass door. My sister and brother in law have a home which is 50% glass wall/door in the back yard. They removed the plywood floor from their garage 'attic' space to board up that beast. Again...... best wishes with all of you Bob |

Good Luck Todd it looks to be moving southward. I live 6 mile from the shoreline and NERVOUS. Lucky my shop is all block construction wall cells filled with concrete and steel I will be holding out there.
