THE WAIT IS OVER!
1 Attachment(s)
The first North American Simjet 700 has landed in a customers hands....MINE! Yeah!
I was with Kevin while he was testing (they test every engine before it goes out) the most recent shipment of engines. Mine was one of them. After testing, delivery consisted of him handing it to me. The others will need to be shipped. What a cool little engine. The start up was so quick. It has a 280 motor to spin it up. It comes with the Full auto start FADEC ECU & terminal, LiPo batteries and charger, onboard propane tank and valves. Now I cant wait for my L39 to arrive from Savex. |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
Wow, that's small. What are the specs on it?
|
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
These are the specs from the Simjet web site:
Technical Specs. Diameter: 75 mm (3 inches) Weight: 550 g. Fuel consumption @ 7 lb thrust: 140ml/min (4.7oz)) Max RPM: 190.000 Idle RPM: 45.000 EGT @ 7lb thrust : 600° C. (1100° F.) Pressure abs. 2,3 Max thrust: 7 Lbf. (31N) - (3.17kg) Min thrust: 0.5 Lbf. On the test stand it had 1/2 lb at idle and 7.2 lb at full. We didnt run it for long but I will have it on my test bench tomorrow and run it up some more. |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
What is the price and availability?
|
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
You would need to contact Great Northern for that Info. All I know is that since I have mine, they are now available over here. Let the fun begin!!!!
|
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
Man that 700 looks cool
Oh the pocket book is gonna hurt again! |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
Yeah, it does look cool. I put it on my test bench last night and does it ever look small. Kinda cute! LOL! Maybe it will be a 3000 when it grows up.

Neat engine..... Its great that they include a lipo pack and charger with it too.
A month or so, and ill own one too [8D]:D |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
oh yea.... did you buy a pipe from wren for the l-39?
or are you going to make your own ? When it was test run in the bench, did they messure the thrust ? |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
Hi Bob, Hotel Sierra
The current price is $2399 which includes engine, Autostart ECU, ancilliaries, 2200mah LiPo battery and charger. We haven't had time to update the site yet, but will get that done soon. Availability is on an order only basis. The demand worldwide has caused a waiting list for the 700 at SimJet. We have put a standing order in place at SimJet for our customers so that the wait time is minimized. If you have any other questions, please do hesitate to contact me. |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
I think I will be getting the pipe from Wren. There have been good things said about these pipes.
The test run was short, but it read 7.2 lbs at 190,000 RPM. The load cell in this stand reads low so I will have more details once I run it myself on my test stand. I will record the temp, thrust etc. I will likely use a throttle curve so I have half thrust at half stick. This is the advantage of running it on a test stand first. I will read the thrust and adjust the curve accordingly. Sorta like a reverse expo. SJN I too like the idea of LiPo's as I will try to keep the wieght of my L39 as low as possible. |

RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
I ran the engine a few more times on the test stand. 3 quick starts using onboard propane tank. Idles at 60,000 full rpm is 190,000 with a EGT of 640 C SWEEETTT!

RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
So what's the expected waiting time guys?
|
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
Be careful - There are two L39 manufacturers. The other is www.savex.cz which is the one that the 36 page RCU thread is referring to!

RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
On my test stand last night, it was reading 8 lbs at 190,000 RPM.
DMP - What are you getting for thrust on your 700? |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
8lbs sounds great. what was the outside temp aprox.?
The wren divagent pipe should give it even more thrust......in theori :) |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
The temp was 7 deg C.
Do you know the length of pipe I will need. There are two lenghts listed. One is 420mm the other is 620? I would guess the 420 should do. |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
nope... But I think wren makes a special lenght pipe for the L-39
I guess when you order, just say you want the L-39 one.......thats what Im going to do anyway ;) 7 deg C is pretty cold......thats what gives it great thrust too :) |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
SJN
The answer about the pipe is the 420mm length is the one. It can be trimmed as needed. As per Sara. They are in stock. |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!

RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
My L39 was ordered on Oct 10 and I had a 2 to 2 1/2 month wait. I hope it will be before christmas.
Yes I will be at Florida jets....Now I just need to book some work in Florida for that time! I have asked in the past but what invoice numbers have been delivered recently? |
RE: THE WAIT IS OVER!
You can also get a dual-walled "Augmenter-pipe" (The Wright pipe) from Jet Hangar Hobbies. Same pipe, different continent.

I ordered mine on Oct 19, and got #74. Delivery time was quoted the same as yours at 2 to 2 1/2 months. I read somewhere that he doesn't ship over Christmas, so it'll probably be here in the New Year. Waiting in anticipation Paul |

Just for kicks, I took a couple of pictures of my Simjet 700 next to my SJ 2300 and next to my SJ 1200. It sure is small. I get a kick out of it everytime I look at it.
