Dear Albert
Yes the flaps were fully down. There was a leak in one of the retract leg cylinders which is now fixed. We have changed tactics for the landing. Full flap is deployed downwind, then the model is turned into wind and flown back down the runway. When the model is relatively close to me at about 20mtrs in height, so then I can judge the speed more accurately then the gear is lowered. That seems to have done the trick. Second and third flight video will be posted soon. Regards Phil G. |

Dear All
We are hoping to have a flying event at RAF Coltishall Late April or perhaps the first week of may. If it goes a head we will be allowed about twenty guests. It would be nice to bring in aircraft that were based at Coltishall. Particually Lightnings. I will post a seperate thread once it is confirmed. Regards Phil G. |

RE: Lightning first flight video
Dear Strykaas
Thanks very much. As I have said before this is our first jet model, and it is absolutely viceless, and an absolute joy to fly. I think I noticed on one of the threads, that you work on the Rafale, we have a chap who comes down to RAF Coltishall as a guest, who is actually making an Aviation design Rafale, I think it is the 1/7th scale one. Thanks for your help with the Lightning videos. The offer still stands if you ever come to England and you want to come and fly with us at RAF Coltishall you are more than welcome. PS The next project is a Eurosport, made to look more like a Eurofighter. Regards Phil Goff.:D |

Dear Micheal
Your Lightning looks great, what engine do you have in it. And how does it fly, ours flies very well. Shame we don't live closer to each other we could get them in the air together. Regards Phil Goff. PS. We fly at RAF Coltishall which was the OCU for Lightnings. |
RE: Lightning first flight video
Dear Phil,
i did not fly yet. I am planing a P-160. What do you think. |

Dear Micheal
We have a P120 in ours and it has more than enough power. I think a P160 might be to much for it and might rip it to pieces. Just a couple of things, have you strenghend where the wings go into the fus we have used phenelic tube for this. We also have the CG 15mm behind where it indicates on the plan. One other thing make sure the retracts are working perfectly they have to come down going forward right into the airflow. We use a pressure of 122psi. Will you let me know when you have flown it and how you get on. Best of luck with the first flight. Regards Phil G. |
