Lightning first flight video
 

Dear All
I have posted the Lightning video on the web.
Sorry about the poor quality. Movie Maker did not import the
sound from the camera for some reason. So I had to import
into another program and then into Movie Maker, hence the loss of quality.

PS I have had to remove the video link, as I have been temperarily been
suspended by Tiscali. Strkaas has very kindly offered me some web space.
I will try and get the file size down and also raise the quality.

Very impressive model, congrats. pity the landing gear malfunction. I hate so much when this kind of stuff happens (seem to occur all time, no matter how careful you be with it) that I simply obliterated the retracts in my last airplane... for me was a record achieving 3 flights in a maiden
session and leaving the field with the gear still attached to the plane!

This is the stuff of boyhood dreams. What engine are you using? Any control issues at all? The only one I saw fly had some dutch roll.

No control problems what so ever. It is not quite as nice in pitch as in roll.
I was suprised how slow it will fly. This is our first jet, and we were given several
horror stories about it. They are totally unfounded.
Mick let's himself down a little bit but he is looking into the faults we have pointed
out to him. We had some leaks in the retracts, but they are now fixed.
We will change tactics with the gear now. We know we can slow the model right down
before we lower the gear ( not to slow though). so hopefully that will work. The pressure
will be raised to 120psi.

Well thats fairly typical. The number one problem I see and have had personally with jet models is inadequate undercarriage. I hope that you get it sorted out and I look forward to seeing it on the circuit this year.
BTW you will have a blast with the eurosport, its a bundle of fun.

Dear All
The Lightning has been out again today (3.01.05)
This time the retracts worked perfectly.
We managed to get two flights in.
First landing absolute greaser, second not quite as good slight bounce
And a scuff on the right aileron.
As I have said before this is our first jet aircraft, and I absolutely love
flying this model. The thing will go straight up to infinity.

The Lightning second and third flight video is nearly ready
including the bounce on the third flight landing.
You get to see the not so good landing, we English
do not hide anything.
