My apologies for the unanswered mail but have been having endless problems with Yahoo and my website. Despite hours on the phone to the US helpline I have decided to move my host somewhere else. It will take a while to be back online. In the meantime please use my regular e-mail [email protected] Johhny, as dicussed previously your crashed 120KS engine is beyond economical repair but since you have the GSU left we could do you a better deal. During 2004 BMT was heavily involved in high speed low cost UAV SAM targets. Due to the cost of R&D in this field we have decided to seperate this aspect from the turbine bussiness. As from next week our full compliment of staff will be back and full production will resume. There are a number of engines already commited from the innitial batch but availability will be consistent during 2005. Production will centre innitially around the 120 and 160KS with the 200KS in parts production already since mid 2004. There are no plans for a smaller size engine. It depends on on what you define as low cost. Our target cost per unit is about $100K ea and 5K/day operating cost. Compared to our nearest competition (for mach 0.5+ LOW altitude (20 - 50M ASL) type targets) is $1m/unit and 200K/day operating cost. Ou UAV is cleared to fly in military airspace under test conditions and have full autonomous autopilot and flightplan and safety recovery footprint GPS hardware. Our target is specifically designed for SAM defence for ships against incoming Exocet class missiles.
AUW = 30Kg and takeoff weight incl 38l Jeta1 60Kg. Power is by 2 x 200KS engines for a top speed of 500 - 600 kph. Contruction is all carbon nomex composite and moulded mostly in one part using CNC milled moulds. Vacuum bagged and oven cured. Cheers Andre MD BMT |

Nice to hear from you again. The software update is for the KS series, I think you may have the V1 Gas/air-start BMT80. There is an upgrade for the 80 as well. If you want I can mail you the latest but you may need a ISP programmer to get the code onto the CPU. The KS of course loads direct from your PC. SAP2000, the wings have quite a bit of volume. 80% of each wing has a skin to skin fuel tank with 4 cells each devided into 4 again for a total of 32 cells. Because the wing has no spar or ribs the tank also helps the structure a bit as it is bonded to the inner skin of the nomex/carbon layer. 4 fuel pumps in total manage the fuel system via 2l header tanks, one for each engine. The UAV is quite big with a 2.3m span and 1.2m chord and 9% laminar flow wing about 95mm thick at the root. About 2,5 msq of wing. Amazingly the fuel does not move the CG near as much as you would think. Cheers Andre MD BMT |
