Second, try the Thorjet Hawk.

if you want a great starter jet, do a search and look into getting a Facet 2300

Boomerang Intro ARF looks pertty good with a P60 turbine. Easy to fly, easy to transport, can be fixed or retracts. Price is good too! Shipping from Dallas, TX on the 10th.

Here is a thread on the Boomerang Intro ARF....

6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other, you have quite afew options which will really depend on
1. budget. (under 3k and up)
2. size/type of models you want to fly
3. flying club field type/conditions
4. ARF or built up kits?

Re- Turbine purchase cost and also long term ownership including service interval costs need to be considered closely and compared between manufacturers as some manufacturers suggest expensive repairs that may include bearing and combustion chamber replacement every 25 hrs of operation which can equal very expensive repair bills... other turbine manufacturers list 50 -100 hrs between major service intervals. Do the math and you will see a big difference in costs... compare specifications between all turbines also for good insight as to performance of each engine. Consider operating temperatures, throttle response, fuel efficiency, service locations and again real service costs.

Re- Kits depending on above mentioned factors- Kangaroo, Rookie, AV8R, Facet, Cermark MB339 are well proven entry models for MW-54 sized turbines, there are others also but generally suited to larger sized engines....

Hope this helps

I asked a similiar question a few months ago. Here's the thread. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_24...tm.htm#2467523

Also, something else you should look at. This is a high end scenario, and is definitely not intended to discourage you in any way ( didn't stop me :) ) but it's worth checking out. http://www.kc-10.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60

Hope this helps a bit.

borna, dont go running off scared, YET. I myself almost did,

to save money, i bought everything used,

got a deal on a used p-80, under 2,000 18 months ago.

and I bought kerry sterners facet 2300 off of him for a great price to.

and when i opened the box for the turbine itself, I saw all the pumps valves hoses, wires i closed the box, I then read the manual many times,

the point i am trying to make is, that this is not as complex as it seems, and I had my first turbine up in the air for just under 3,700 dollars and it's a great flyer

Agreed ! I am going to take my time with mine and spread the cost out over a period of approximately 12-15 months. As far as the complexity is concerned, see if you can find anyone locally that is flying turbines. Contrary to what some would have you believe, the jet guys are a great bunch overall and most will be glad to help.

Well $3700 is not bad for Turbin as long as it won't come $650 an hour. I'm will continue doing research and see how it goes
Thanks for all the advice

Borna, that was an extreme case with very high end equipment. If you will read the thread carefully, Wojtec factored in everything from a trailer to t-shirts. Guess I shouldn't have posted the link as it is certainly not reflective of the cost of a beginner's jet. While I doubt I'll get away with $3700, I will be closer to that than to the cost of a King Cat. Are jets expensive ? Yes. No getting around that but as Mark pointed out, you can be creative and cut the costs quite a bit.
Again, don't get spooked off yet. Do the research.

Dave
