RE: Fastest Jet
There was a Super Bandit with a Jet Cat Titon in it at Florida Jets and I can tell you this.....it was fast!!!
|
RE: Fastest Jet
At an AMA sanctioned event or field, the really fast jets can accelerate up to 200 mph, but then they kind of hit a brick wall.:D

RE: Fastest Jet
any vids of this?

ORIGINAL: poorkid I'm just curious how fast these babies can go... Based on anecdotal evidence, in America the air is apparently thicker, or something, causing models in this country to generally fly slower than when the same model flies elsewhere. [sm=bananahead.gif] |

RE: Fastest Jet
Poorkid,
Check with Dave Brown. He seems to know where us "common modelers" can buy an off the shelf jet that'll do 300 MPH. "Those extremes could be handled within a "one membership fits all" policy, and there was little need to consider any other policy. Technology has not only made it possible to fly a greater cross section of models, it has made flying models over a much wider spectrum, practical, and popular. Who would have thought, 25 years ago that models capable of 300MPH would become available to the common modeler? Who would have thought that an RC model, weighing, but a few ounces, would be available to the average modeler, and have enough thrust to hover on it's electric motor, and fly for nearly 1/2 hour. Who would have thought of 50 Ib models, with enough power to accelerate, vertically. These are common place models, today, and what the future will bring is exciting to ponder." Although I haven't seen one yet but they must be available, DB said so!. Oh wait, it's going 300 MPH, maybe THAT'S why I can't see it. BRG, Jon |

I want to know who makes that 300 mph jet that's available to the average modeler....

Bob,
Ask Dave. The above quote was from his vision for AMA. Just another one of his untruths regarding the turbine segment of the hobby. If you want to read the whole thing go to: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/The_...2714464/tm.htm It's going to ba a long 3 years for us turbine fliers! Brg, Jon |

I know nothing about this one, i just found the pic.. bet it'll go 300.. wide open in a long dive, probably 400.. i guess i have lost my craving for mega speed, but i don't have any need for 201+.. nothing against the guys who do, but plz go way out in the desert or somewhere remote.. or why not just get into model rockets.. imo... here's a clip..click on the 1st avi(1636) vid of the 3 here.. :D[link=http://www.qcrcc.com/gallery/gallery.asp?categoryid=42]http://www.qcrcc.com/gallery/gallery.asp?categoryid=42[/link]

RE: Fastest Jet
This plane is fairly slow compaired to many jets like the Super Bandit.
It has been clocked at 210 mph but in this video it was only doing ~160 on the fasest pass.. http://www.corpcomp.com/weeks1/movie..._Lumberton.WMV Eddie Weeks |
RE: Fastest Jet
Mr. Matt, the Super Bandit with the Titan in it was flown by someone not from the USA. He is a very good pilot. If you'll look in the Florida Jets thread for a Yellow in front and dark blue towards tail with black and white checkers on top....that is the one. There was also a Firebird there with an AMT 450 in it I believe. I think that one is Tommy Wood's. Both were "bad" fast!!!

RE: Fastest Jet
the fastest thing i have ever seen fly this was about 4 yrs ago
was a lime/green bandit counter balanced flight surfaces this thing was build for speed the right way vinny |
RE: Fastest Jet
I've got a video on my PC from the delta airframe DAYTONA KID posted a picture of. That particular day on a show in Germany the guy was "cruising around" at about 450 kph (280 mph)... but the weather was very hot, so he didn't reach max thrust/speed...
It was still PLENTY fast, I can tell you that much...! Also, there's a guy in Germany that claims to have reached 561 kph (348 mph) with one of these delta things... he got the result using GPS... but I bet he wasn't "cruising" at that speed :D |
RE: Fastest Jet
gary is right....they can really scoot...but as he said hit the wall at 200......of course he was talking about straight up:D

RE: Fastest Jet
I saw this fly in Belgium last year at Pampas. It is certainly the fastest thing I have ever seen, and I can assure you it would not be close to legal in the USA. It looked wickedly twitchy to me in flight and I was at once impressed by the undoubted skill of the pilot, and agast that it was set up so twitchy considering the blistering speed! Outstanding to see though.
