RE: Internal antenna or whip?
I agree to that.

RE: Internal antenna or whip?
I have been using a Revolution inside the nose of my plane for over a year. It is mounted horizontal and I have never had a range problem. Just make sure you keep the antenna as far away from the ECU and pump as you can.

RE: Internal antenna or whip?
Hei Per!
Like I said earlier in the post, I don't think I'll risk anything with my new F-16, so it will be equipped with the same whip-solution that I had on the first one.. However, I am looking for a smaller/neater solution for my small SU27 Flanker with the Simjet 700 - maybe a shorter whip? I have seen some nice, small whips with a small coil or spring at the base - anyone know where I can get those? Tor |
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
icepilot, Have you got your SU27 yet ?
|
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
No, I had a mail from Ilja 2 days ago - he says he has already delivered some planes, and being nr. 5 on his list now, mine should be here in about 4 weeks...:D
|
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
How many does he make per week ?
Did you order the full version one ? How much is he charging you for that ? He hasn't answered my Emails yet... |
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
I ordered the full version with all the options - I don't know how many he makes pr. week and I also don't know the total price yet, but he does have the introduction price and has promised me that price + full painted model with all the blue colors!
I know he is very busy, and I suppose he only took time to answer my mails because of my crash with the F-16 - I think he is sharing his time between making planes, test-flying it and planning improvements. I also don't know if the retracts and legs are ready yet... but I am willing to wait for this little beauty! ;) |
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
Same for me. I still have many open questions though !!!

RE: Internal antenna or whip?
What are you flying now? Any pictures?

RE: Internal antenna or whip?
Never used a whip antena, I join 3 drinking straws (canudos de refrigerante , Joel ;) ) and install
it inside the fuselage with a small patch of fiberglass and CA , as far as I can from the ECU and pump. the straws protect the wire, makes easy to put the antena exactly where you want and they are super light too. never had a range issue using this method. Enrique |
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
Enrique, i do the same, i just use pushrod hulls for the job because they require no joining...
No range problems here, either....and i am running the 35MHz band.... Regards |
RE: Internal antenna or whip?
Yes, I used to do it so, it worked fine too. The idea of the straw came after hurrying up in a late
friday and not finding a appropiate sullivan rod. I only use straws now because they are lighter and more easily to glue at the fuse with CA than the nylon rod. Joining then is easy too, just make a telescopic joint with a small drop of ca... Best Rgds, Enrique |
