ORIGINAL: EASYTIGER Yeah. Sudden silence in the room! Let WREN worry about copying. They seem to be too busy making new products to worry too much about Jetjoe. Anyway...havn't we been through all this before? Back to jetjoe.... Is that your JetJoe with the Reaper for sale on Ebay? Couldn't be two "easytigers" in the world of R/C turbines? Dave |

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
Yes, that's my Reaper. Another plane clogging up the hangar. It's not scale, so it does not really move me...it was an impulse purchase, that kit. Off it goes.

I'm sure it will make a newbie very happy.
Are you tied to AHC in anyway? Past or present? Dave |

What's AHC?

I see Marshall all the time, he's my neighbor at his new shop on 30th st. Most of the stuff you see from me nowadays has nothing to do with AHC, I bought out many other warehouses, too... |

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
The basement actually went five floors down...it was, in a word...staggering. Stuff untouched from the thirties. Stuff legends were made of. I cannot exaggerate what was there!
I know the Jersey shop is still there, I would assume they still race on the roof... The 22nd street building has been torn down, now they have a small shop on 30th st... |

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
What did you get? I might have gotten a case of it!
You saw it, at least a portion of it, you are one of the few people who really understands a little of what was there... I have the signs from outside of the building, that neighborhood got too hot, that old building was doomed to be condos... |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

I read on another thread that you bought five jets the other week, so loosing just one will save on storage and on the hanger rash:D Whats the news on the New JJ turbine at 18lb/80 newtons?? I thought it was due out about now. There should be no crys of copy this being a generic KJ66, though the price will be interesting compared to the many commercial KJ66s available worldwide. RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
EIGHT, actually! But some of them were small!
Storage really IS an issue, as is hangar rash, the reaper is sitting on top of one of my cars in the hangar, I have two cars buried under planes, it's just stupid already. The thing about jets, too, is that unless you dedicate specific time and maintainance to them...they CRASH. In other words, you can only really take care of a few at a time and keep them in good flying condition. I keep re-learning that. I have heard from Joe about the bigger engine, you know about as much about it as me. A smaller one will follow, too. The pricing, well...it's not THAT different from most other brands, the JJ1400 full autostart. Anybody want to run the numbers on what a JJ1400 with a flightworks pump and full autostart is versus a Wren? |

In other words, you can only really take care of a few at a time and keep them in good flying condition. I keep re-learning that. I'm not that crowded just can't get any cars into the garage[8D] I'm also down to keeping four models operational pre flight inspected and ready to go flying. Another six are on standby but needing a minimum 30 minutes, probably more on pre flight checks in the garage. The rest are in storage and missed any promised winter TLC. If I ever end up filling the JR tx model memory its going to be divorce for sure. Seems simply to enjoy models flying sufficient time has got to be put in on preventive inspections. The turbines just add to that care time and I now need a model list to remind me of any specials, like Warning don't ever put full flap on the BEA Hawk on take off[:o] Paul RCdriver |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
I find that's just more realistic, keeping four models or so on the actual flightline, ready to go. Jets are VERY critical of that TLC thing, it gets very expensive to just throw them in the air and hope! I have 16 memories filled on my 9c at any one time, with some programs spilling off onto a second memory chip, but not all those models are really ready to go...some are 30 minutes away, but some are crashed and in need of rebuild and I just don't want to lose the programs!
I have stuff stacked on top of the cars though, now, and that's no good...have to get rid of some more... |

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
That was the coolest snowstorm ever! Most snow on record, but it was not cold or windy or unpleasant, and it was on a weekend, my daughter and I went to Central Park and went sledding, she is four and fearless, and the star of the hill, we had a ball. The storm was really a pleasure and not a major inconvenience, nobody lost power, business was not really disrupted, the streets were cleaned pretty quickly, and I had the distinct pleasure of watching a Hummer with very silly and very expensive low-profile spinner wheels slide out of control and get stuck into a snowbank!
|
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
Nice one, sounds like you both had great fun. A few years ago I put ski runners on a piper cub and had a ball with zero wind doing touch goes up and down the runway with stall turns each end.
Now that I think about it a turbine would come in handy clearing the drive of snow and at one time I thought a turbine would make a great weed wacker when test running except its a little expensive as a garden tool. I've seen some weird applications for turbines, maybe twin JJ 1400s on a bycycle might be a summer project? or I'll just stick with the English Electric 'Lightning' |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
You really SHOULD do a lightning! The MR kit is very reasonable, and so are two Joes. Engine out situation is no big deal with the over and under configuration, it will still fly fine on 12 pounds or so...
