An airstart Oly??? I'll put two titans in it!! God knows that there is more than enough fuel. :)

Raf

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

heck yeah!! airstart Oly would be the shiznit. I think the engine bearers are just wide enough to accomodate. the plane looks beefy enough to handle the weight and 45+ lbs of blow. would be spectacular with a boat load of ordnance underneath.

Doing good Dave.

I'm still smiling after my weekend in Mississippi.

you're gonna love Hudson's F-8. with any luck he'll be able to finish that thing before summer hits.

take care

Hi,

we just finished the blue Angel color scheme for F-4C, the Airframe weight is 16.1 ibs only, very light , the dry weight without fuel should be 34 to 34.5 lbs, we also painting the Thunder bird and Black Bunny color scheme now, will post more pictures here,

Best regards

I finally flew mine today and Tommy's (Black Bunny). Both flew great even though it was a nasty cloudy day with strong cross wind.

Mine with the Rhino and Tommy's with the Titan. I think they are plenty of power and most flight was on 50 - 60 % throttle.

I am really impressed with the flying of this plane - rock solid!

Couple of guys took some videos so I'll post when I get them. Some pictures are on the "Jet Flying in Brooklyn Thread)

Hey Adil

I never did get the pics you promised me of the X-Treme Dragon. Too busy with the F4 so I can understand but if you get some time could you please post some pics of the Dragon on the thread where we were talking about the dragon. I am very interested in purchasing one but I would like to see some photos showing the construction before I buy one.

Thanks, Neal

ravill, be carefull with the elevator before your maiden, if u have the elevator neutral, i mind, parallel to the fuse flight line move your elev trim all the way down (nose up in flight) and this have to be your new neutral position, if u fly with the elevators parallel to the fly line the elev trim wont be enought, take a look at the picture, that should be your neutral position for the first flight, take care...

Thank you Michel. I love the plane more than ever. What a great big graceful flyer.

I really must say that I really think the RHINO is a perfect engine. It keeps the airframe so nice and cool. I even put my hand on the pipe while the engine was idiling and did not feel the heat. The stabs etc. were perfectly cool. Not to mention, that the Rhino has tremendous power and acceleration. Fuel consumption also benefits as I flew for around 8 minutes and did not even get to the main tank only the saddle ones (still with some fuel.)

I guess you can go for more power but I don't know if it will benefit much as it is a large airplane with a draggy design like the original. I was flying around 50-60% throttle and would guess the speed to be in the 140 -150 mph range. On verticals, I would punch the throttle and with the swift acceleration, the plane would just accelerate and go vertical till I would just loop it down not wanting to go in the clouds.

Landings are a piece of cake and I tried all the flap settings with no distinguishable trim change. Ailerons rate can be lightly more than the manufacturer stated throw but it is still ample to do confortable double rolls etc. This is one of the few airframes that I can honestly say that you line up the approach and attitude and forget everyting except the throttle to control altitude.

Overall, I'm HUGELY impressed with the SM F-4 and RHINO combination. I'm now going to dress it up with some extras etc.

Looking forward to many many good times with this one.

Regards,

Adil

HI Adil; Congrats on the maiden....

I am supprised you did not get any trim changes with the flaps! Rafy's F4 nosed down heavily with full flaps and it yawed sidways on final. So we had to go around and componsate with elev trim and then landed safely. The next flight, I did the mixing on the 10X and the plane flew and landed very well with no trim changes... May be CG is different on his!

Man was it cold. You can see it on the video that what a horrible cold day it was. Video is compliments of Alan Hoes (SkyKing). We'll have more of the Black Bunny one as well later.

Lets see if anyone can tell (other then who was there) what the problem was with the plane when I landed it !!

Adil

flap stuck!
And the winner is!! Ehab.

I was testing the flaps and once satisfied with all the settings and not needing any trim, I raised them. I quickly realized that the plane was rolling almost uncontrollably. I flew around for a couple of circuits with lowering the gear etc,. and landed.

While painting and waxing etc. I did not clean out the gap seals and under pressure, the flap was getting stuck. Once cleaned the ridge and extra paint, it works fine now.. whew !

Todd: I can't wait to get thes lights. I think this special package that you and Hajo has made is DA BOMB. Hajo mentioned that out of 48 luxeon emitters in eash cone, every other one changes intensity to simulate glowing engine ?? I can harly wait !! Thank you very much for making a special custom package.

Adil,
Correct, 24 (every other bulb) of the Luxeon emitters vary intensity to simulate burner glow. Simply stunning...! One warning... Dont look directly into the burner ring, I was seeing spots for an hour [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Cant wait to see them installed...
