Hey, ET: it is NOT what you think it is...We are not that much of sickos, then again, we fly jets and that can be called sick sometimes looking at the money we spend on them just to see them sometimes go up in flames!!!

ET: I want my $5 back:D:D...

back to the thread:

So far from the pics, I this F4 is a marked improvement over previous models. I do hope the price will be competitive thu!!! I have heard of other F4's coming to the scene so it will have to be competitive I guess..

Like I said, who am I to judge you. Someday you will be judged by a HIGHER authority, even higher than AMA, and you will be cast into a pit of fire for a few thousand years, THEN you and your friend might have some second thoughts about your Alternate Jet Lifestyle. Same with Vinny and Mike of F-troop, and Woj and JetCopter Don. Like I said, I have no problem whatsoever with your abominations against the American Family. In the meanwhile, here's your $5 back. I know you need it to buy some lube for your O-ring.

;)
I think BVM sells good o-ring lube does it make your rear(brakes) move more smoothly?

Seriously, though, yes, it looks like a serious improvement in quality.
What's the story of the plug that was shown on the FeiBao site, and now hidden away? Is this that plug?

And who else has Phantoms coming?

No idea!
I do know Feibao was showing an almost-completed plug, and some finished parts, for an F-4 that looked just about identical to the Skymaster one. Recently, the pics dissapeared from the website. I cannot connect those dots.

I got a couple of hours of work done last evening. I have to say that due to the large size of the airframe, there is so much room to work. The tail group is pretty much done. I just have to bolt 2 8611's for the stab. I'm waiting for a reversed one to arrive (LHS order).

The wings have a lot of room for standard size servos. I glued a 1/8 ply plate before mounting the servo blocks and there is more than enough room. I'm going with JR 2721 for the flaps and Futaba 3152 for the ailerons.

You will notice that the entire tail section is CF laminated with 1/4 ply formers. Everything lined up perfectly and works slop free.

Tonight I'll work on the fuel tanks and servo wiring... I'll post the acutal capacity of the fuel tanks as well later....

great pix of how the stab is installed!!

are all the rudder formers pre-installed? I'm sure the next pix will show where the stab servos go. hopefully relatively close to the stab.

keep 'em coming.

take care

decide on a color scheme yet? :D there's a german scheme with a white mustang on the fuse I can't get my mind off of.

Good pics, Thx!. Looks like tons of CF at the rear, is it going to balance without any nose weight? I can't wait to see the painted ones!

what engine are you using?

EASYTIGER 10-23-2006 12:02 PM

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

Does it have a way-freaking-cool variable AOA nose strut like the BVM one does? Can you put in the BVM nosegear? That's such a cool, cool scale feature, and probably helps the takeoffs, too.

Ehab 10-23-2006 12:04 PM

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

If they played a bit with the location of the wheels, ie non scale, then the take off will be a lot easier. Can some one tell us the distance between the wheels and the CG?

EASYTIGER 10-23-2006 12:09 PM

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

I was wondering that...but I like the BVM solution better...the variable strut is just COOL.

The air adjustable nose struts are made by Matrix Machine, Rochester NY. I'm sure that John Moselello would be able to machine a nose strut for this Rhino also.

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

I think it is cool too, but I'd rather have an easy take off/landing jet than the cool nose gear. On the other hand, why not both?

f106jax 10-23-2006 12:32 PM

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

I had a BVM Phantom with the air adjustable nose strut and it was reliable, never leaked, and did look cool. The Rhino rotated perfectly with the strut extended. Twice I took off without the strut extended and the F-4 did rotate but it took more distance and speed to rotate. The strut extension was mixed with throttle and I had the mix switch in the wrong position, wasn't the failure of the strut. :D

Hi Ehab,

I have a feeling that it will require some nose weight for sure. I'm using Jet Central Rhino.

Thanks - Adil

Hi Buck,

Yep. All the formers and the CF is preinstalled. If you look closely, both the vertical CF rods are running in phenolic tubes which are glued in the 1/4 formers (slotted). The best part is that all the removable formers (stabs) and stab servo formers are 1/4 ply which slide into slotted formers in the front and held down in the back with bolts / screws. Very nice and thoughtful set up. The stab servos mount on the 1/4 ply plate right in front of the stab so you can make the linkage between 2-4" at the most.

As far as the schemes, I have a lot of good ones to choose from. i am looking for a colourful vs operational. and have come up with some finalist which include the Bicentennial, and some of the JASDF ones.

some are attached here

The retract mounting is not full scale and by looking at the video, it seems like it is set up for ease of rotating etc.

I have been in conversations with John Mesollela (Matrix Machining) and he is willing to make me a adjustable nose strut (He is currently updating my F-14 gear as is).

Thanks- Adil
