F9F Panther Scale Documentation?

Hello

I would like to model the F9F Panther next. The paint job I like is the Blue Tail Fly where the front is aluminun and the back is blue.

Can someone point me to a good three view drawing and scale documenataion please? I don't mind paying for good three views/pictures/ etc.
Thanks

RE: F9F Panther Scale Documentation?

The problem with the Blue Tail Fly is that in realitiy there is a lack of good documentation, especially if you want to compete with it. The BTF was an anomaly. In reality it was only in existence for about three weeks, and on the front in action for about 13 days. It was created when two airplanes were damaged, one an all aluminum aircraft in a test color scheme, the other an all blue model. The innovative mechanics put the two together and created the Blue Tail Fly. If you are not going to use it for high end competition then you can get some fairly good views in Scale and Detail, Panthers in Action, and another set of books which I have but cannot remeber the title right this moment.
A lesson I learned this summer at the WJM is that if you want to be really competitive with a model aircraft you need to find that plane and get as many pictures of it as possible for your documentation. Unfortunately the BTF was retrofitted or taken out of service and I have heard it is no longer in existence. Good luck with your endeavors, it is a beautiful bird. One of the best examples I have ever seen in person is Sung's model built by Henry Nguyen of HVN Models.
Might want to try to contact Henry, he might can help you.

I have been in love with the F9F Panther since I was 8 years old. The Panther was new at the time. I have gathered every bit of info on the Panther that I could come across, but even with 9 different books on the Panther I have only found 1 photo (sadly it's black & white) and 1 drawing on Squadron Signal's book on the Panther & Cougar. I know there is documentation that I don't have, because I remember seeing it. There was also a Panther which was blue with a natural metal tail section. It was known as "Vice Versa"

If you are looking for scale documentation, then you must go with the Airworld Panther, the best outline Panther out there, they fly awesome. Joe C

Hi Peter

I sympathise with you. I am sitting with the same problem. Salvator's pictures are great. Our rules require some photo's of the original as well. In all the books with the Panther in them, most of the photo's are only black and white. If you find anything, I am willing to share costs.

I have the Airworld Panther.

I spoke to one of the judges who attended WJM 2007, and he said the main reason the Panthers did not do too well was the documentation, or the lack there of.

Maybe I am just going to do an Ali and come up with a "sport scale" project.

Hope you have watched "The Bridges at Toko-Ri"

Anyone come across a pic of the blue one with the yellow wings ?

Hi,
Yes it is an Airworld model. However it was bought second hand and the paint is not keyed to the fuselage so its an opportunity to change everything and I have always liked the silver based fuselage rathere than the solid blue.
Have paint masks from Ralle at "Tailormade Decals" so let the fun begin.

David

If you want to made scale surface on your Panther, on web site: www.nsmodelers.rs can find sets for that job.

There are Mirce Finish Set for panel lines, rivets and dummy screws, Detail Set for F9F with all details for fuselage, wing and tail, Paint masc for stars and bars insignia and for more realistic surface you can order extra rivets...

Here is a link of Ziroli Panther I made: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...de-serbia.html

There are a lot of pictures of all products I talk about, how look during apply and after painting...
