Well, as you know, I ordered a SM F-15 from Al's Hobbies as well. Maybe Santa will put it under the tree;)

I will power mine by the Simjet Sonic 120 which is practically the same engine as yours, only homebuild.

Should be no problem. We have a lot of customers use on grassfield.

Morten.

I'm using the same struts on my Skymaster F-22 and they hold up pretty good. Even on the rought grass field at our club. ;) But I do recommend that you use soft wheels (I use Robarts) as they will take some of the beating from the rough field.

I received my SM F-15 ARF from Al's Hobbies today. It looks really good, and I'm sure I can finish the model in time before traveling to Florida Jets in March. All the parts go together real well. Only thing I could find is a slight mis-alignment of the canopy hook, but that can easily be fixed.

Daughter Johanne shows her daddy's new toy.

Hello you F15 Owners

I have just taken delivery of the SM Tailpipe for the F15. And I noticed that the Bellmouth to the pipe is loose!!

Should this be spot welded in place or do I need to do something else to it??

I would have thought that this should not be loose.

Could someone shed some light on this.

Many thanks

Peter G

Hello Peter.

I drilled 3 holes though the belmouth and pipe, and tightened the belmouth with some 2,5 mm screws. I let some cyano run around the edge.

RE: Skymaster F-15c

Hi Peter.

As Stig said, 2 or 3 screws are required to attach the bellmouth

I've used 1/8 " aluminum pop-rivets , don't have to worry about the screws coming loose .

I did some basic work on the cockpit today.

#1: The parts supplied for the cockpit.
#2: The two seats were cut to lean a little backwards. The rear seat needs to be cut approx. 10 mm (3/8") shorter than the front seat in order not to go against the hood. I scratched off the paint of the cockpit floor where the seats were to be glued on.
#3: I mixed up some 30 minute epoxy with some carbon to make a black glue that will be less visible.
#4: I glued the seats to the cockpit floor using some scrap balsa as aid for the seats. The balsa was held on to the seats with dobble sided tape. The whole setup was taped down while the epoxy was curing.
#5,6&7: The finished cockpit ready for some scale detailing. I might just fit a pilot dummy to the front seat, and leave it at that. After all, it's an ARF..;)

Morten and I finally got the servoes for our SM F-15's. On the rudder and anileron we're using the Graupner/JR DS3328 with 4 kg torque and 9 kg holding power. On the flaps we're trying the new DS8081 with carbon gear, 5,5 kg torque and 12 kg holding power.[8D]

Hey, hey. Hold it now, Morten. Are you going to maiden your F-15 before me????;)

I have installed the servoes and the pipe is the one from my F-22, that has been retrofittet into the F-15. Not a perfect match, but it is OK.
