When doing hover trials would it not make more since to tether your waist to the ground rather then a beam over your head... After all the thought is to go up....

What a bunch of crap! Notice that the rearward tether line is always in tension. And when his feet go off of the ground, the jet-pack does not get any higher at all. All he is doing is moving forward with thrust and then moving his feet forward and up. Then a turbine injests one of the RPM wires (that's why it was damaged).

Gimme a break!!!
