RE: HOTSPOT

FYI Guys,

I got a PM from I-NAV suggesting I contact Peter at Jet-Team-Liebetrau. They were very responsive and helpfull. Thanks I-Nav and Peter.

Got another question.... my Kit came with couple of Dowel rods about 3/4" OD and 8" long. I am not sure but I believe it is suppose to fit inside the aluminium tube. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Those dowels are meant to go inside the spar tube to increase the sheer strength of the tube. Don’t cram them in if they're tight fit in the tube as it will expand the tube OD and no longer fit through the fuse. Debur the end of the tube's inner diameter, then lightly sand the circumference of the dowel until you have a relatively snug sliding fit. Measure the dowel and calculate the depth of insertion such that the center of the dowel is at the sandwich position of the fuse/fin/wing, then insert it apply copious amounts of thin CA glue to hold it in place. You could probably use Hysol by smearing it in the tube then inserting the dowel, but I just used thin CA when I build mine back in 2002.

Kelly,

Thanks for the info. I will probably use Hysol. BTW I saw a few videos of you flying your Hotspot, great flying. You also have a great field, looked a bit cold though[sm=lol.gif].

Thanks again.

Thanks for your comments. Its a really fun bird to fly with a heavy thumb and more than 1:1!:D

The site you've probably seen in the videos on Youtube is Princeton, in the interior of BC. The same jet also makes a brief appearance in a newly posted [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2bqolN6M1Y]High River Jet Rally[/link] video. Princeton's not as cold as it looks. In the Summer, it'll hang in the mid-30's (mid 90's F) quite commonly. We once had to cancel our annual jet rally due to extreme dry conditions and the fear of causing a forest fire.:( Its a great site though!

I've got an airshow demonstration to perform with it this Sunday, then its off to Whidbey in another couple weeks, and Princeton 3 weeks later. I love this time of year!

Kelly
