Guys I need your help, I just bought a new unbuilt kit hotspot and I need all information regarding placement, arrangement special mods etc. Thanks

I have a feeling your about to get some of the best info for building a hotspot ever seen.. be patient.. keep your eyes on the new threads..

Toss the gear. Get robart 630's. Strengthen nose gear setup. Do a nice install on the rudders. I can send some pics if you like, but not tonight, left camera at work. I highly recommend the kevlar tank from Mueller. If you need anything specific, just let me know.
Oh, the airbrake is cool, but not a necessity. It does help with access if you make the whole unit removable.

I don't know who's HOTSPOT this is but it looks awesome. Does anyone know who's plane this is? Any pictures of it finished? I would take a clone of this one anyday.

Don't know who's that is, but the tip tanks are from Tad at Golden West. I have a pair on my Kangaroo.

I bought that Hot Spot from Sung right before we went to the World Jet masters, it was Henry's and he built it (HVN Models) I sold it to William Foster in order to get a RTF Skymaster/Airpac F-15

Randy M., my deal included the Robarts and BVM wheels and breaks. I downloaded an instruction manual by I believe Wilcox and read all of it. It mentions using Volz servos for the rudders. I own Futaba gear so naturaly I would want to use Futaba but thats not written in stone. Yes, I would like some pictures of the install. I am going to powering it with Modelbau T-750. I feel that after reading here on RCU this would be a great platform to gain knowledge on before imbarking an a scale model. Guys keep it comming I need all the info I can get. Once I start I will post pictures so you folks can tell me my mistakes if any, then correct them.

The voltz servos are used because they fit nicely in the verticles, they're about 3/8 in thick. They will work fine with Futaba. However, I used thin side mount JR's. I forget the number but I did build out and flare the area to look a little better. I'll post some picks shortly.

I too use Futaba equipment, but the Hotspot I have has the volz servos in the rudders and they work great and are a very "clean" set up. I havent flown it here in south Carolina where I just moved to. But I really like the airbrake where I have flown it, in Colorado, Tucson, and at Superman in Illinois.

Here's a few shots. This was my first turbine powered jet as well. Pretty basic setup.
Air tanks are in the nose. I had rx battery there at first but moved it back behind the aft nosegear former
to move cg back a little.

If you've got a set of Robart's put them in. The Eurokits are fine for grass, but the tires blow on pavement. Mine is set up pretty much stock with CG according to plans. Do a search of this forum including posts be me and you will have most of your questions answered.

Mike, I have 630's on the mains. Still using the graupner on the nose. I've been flying this one for about 3 yrs.

I have the Graupner manual and it's telling me to get 4 DS 8411's, the Wilcox manual tells me to use the Volz's in the rudder. I will have to make some measurements to see what the depth is on the rudders. I would prefer a even clean finish as opposed to what you showed me in the pictures Randy. Roger what servos did you use in the rest of the kit. I need to know this so I can get them and start my building.

I used one 8411 on each elevon. I did not split the elevon. I've seen some guys put the rudder servos in the fuse( top or bottom). Pretty clean, but the rods will be much longer. I would use the voltz, but I already had the other ones.
Just get good quality servos for everything else, does not need to be big money. No reason to put a $100 servo in to actuate an air switch or brake valve.

Just ordered the jet tech fuel tank from Gary last night. Also, got my servos on the way and can't wait to begin cutting, sanding, glassing and gluing. I also ordered 10 Hysol 9432 glue tubes along with the 10 pack dispenser and glue gun. I could not believe how thin the twin fins are! Send me pictures of the interior arrangements, Ineed all the help I can get.

Ooopss no pictures!!! Looking forward to seeing them, my Hotspot is well, um, ready for some work!! Despite being already finished, my friend Jason checked it over and there are quite a few things not right. Ghost Rider kindly sent me the Bob Willcox build instructions, and I would really reccomend you have a good look through these. I would be happy to send the file to you if you PM me your email address, and Kelly W also sent me some really good stuff that I think would be useful too.

There is a lot of help and experience around regarding the Hotspot, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I intend to enjoy mine!!!

I got the Wilcox instructions looked at them and took a few things. It's ok I guess nothing spectacular I mean it's great that he did that but you know. I followed some of it, the Hotspot in general does not look that complicated to build. I hope no one frowns on my choice of servos but I love Hitec digitals. I have all Futaba gear and was not ready to start spending money on JR radios or servos that I feel are not justified. Some feel that JR is what all jet users use I for all practical purposes feel confident and trust Hitec and Futaba. I don't even use futaba digital servos it seems that whenever I need a specific servo, Futaba does not have it. I was thinking of getting the 10SX along with two top of the line JR digitals with the slim wing servos they make. Ironically, the Hitec servo you see pictured is identical to the JR version, I mean right down to the self adhesive tape supplied! It' just made me wonder and right there and then I decided not to switch. Those Hitecs are stronger than the Volz servos that are recommended in the Wilcox manual. Look at it and you be the judge.

I have a remark. I've used in my Kangaroo no digital servo's, only ferrite-rings. A clubmember also built a Kangaroo with the same installation as mine but he used digital servo's. From the first flight he had radio-interference. Than he bought a emcotec (another 200 euro's)and his the interference was away. I've now 40 flights on mine with no problems at all.

Maybe someone else also experienced this problem...

I flew the HS and Roo´s with and without digital servos... both types flew fine, but the "feeling" of
the digital ones where much better, specially on the rolling axis. About the interference , I never had a problem even using 7 digital servos on the plane without a powerbox.. I just used heavy duty extensions and kept them well away from the antenna wire..
