Universal Starting Gas Dump Kit

We are very pleased to announce that we have finished testing the Turbine Starting Gas Dump kit.
The kit is universal and will work with any radio or any turbine installation. Please note: This kit allows you to dump into open air and not dump the excess gas into the turbine, hence removing any overheating/flameout possibilities. Setting-up is extremely easy, just cut your starting gas line between the starting gas tank and solenoid, insert the Festo T piece, hook up the provided gas valve to the gas line, the gas valve control lead to the control circuit, and the control circuit to a spare channel on your receiver (switch channel works as well). Activate the switch from your transmitter and the gas is evacuated. Since some turbines use 3mm for the starting gas, and some use 4mm, we have provided both 3mm and 4mm tubing as well as 3 and 4mm Festo T pieces. The Y harness is universal and will fit all radio systems. Get the piece of mind, and dump your starting gas before take off. OTHER APPLICATIONS: 1- Some turbine installations do not have a starting gas valve. You can use this kit to add a starting gas valve system that is purely controlled by the transmitter, and will work with any ECU and any Turbine. 2- You can use it without the valve to hook-up to your model's kero valve to shut down fuel no matter what the ECU is commanding. This is an added safety feature since you command it from the transmitter. 3- Finally, if you have a turbine set-up that does not have a fuel valve, you can use this kit to command your fuel. A typical set-up is the WREN44 manual start. This system does not use a Kero valve, I have in the past used a micro servo to control a Festo valve to shut-off fuel. I'm a newbie so excuse my ignorance, what is the purpose of this gismo? Is it to vent off the remaining gas once the engine is running so that if the model crashes the chances of a fire are less? If so how much more likely is it for the model to catch fire with half a tank of gas on board? I was planning just to leave my gas tank out of the model & just plug in the hose during start up. - John.

Excuse my bluntness, but why is it so expensive?
A Jet-tronic valve is $85. Could this do the same job, and if so, what is better about about your system? |

The cost includes the whole set-up not only the valve. The valve needs control circuitry, wire harness, festo fittings, and tubings.

The jet-tronic valve has the control circuit as part of the unit. It only needs to be plugged straight into the RX. It has the advantage that it is all in one small unit. I have not tried to see if it would work with gas but can't see why not. I guess that it might not be too good with kero.
Do you have a picture of the setup? I can't work out what the FESTO's are for. I am not having a go at your product, but am interested in it's relative benefits. |

I am assuming this requires a seperate channel just for the dump feature?
I'm as confused as Siclick, what does this system do that a Jettronic valve would not? And.... if onboard propane was a concern, why not just use the tank for starts then disconnect? No knocking your product, just trying to understand the purpose of this unit and justify the cost... BTW... for those unaware, Jetcat has a nice feature where it will purge the propane during flight if one wishes, just needs to be turned on in the ECU. |

The above kit is for the Gas dump. The Festo fittings are needed to split the gas between the starting gas tank and your own turbine gas valve. Two are supplied since some manufacturers use 3mm and some use 4mm for gas lines. Also 1 m of 3mm as well as 1 m of 4mm tubine are supplied. If you want to use the kit to control your own Kero valve, all you need is the blue electronic circuit not the whole kit which sells for $US44.95 |

Todd - the extra channel was my first thought too, though I guess you could put it on a mix somewhere. For anyone who's concerned about the cost ... if you want a simple an inexpensive gas dump feature, you can just use a T fitting and a small ballcock for a manual dump capaility. (As per the Jetcat user manual which you can view on their site.) |

I heard at the Vegas fun fly last weekend that AMA is considering making an on-board gas dump a mandatory feature for turbine helis. If that happens, I'm sure their sights will be on the plank guys next. The heli world is moving towards kero start.

I do not get that!! So you knee besides you plane, to fill the onboard gas tank. Then you start the engine, and when it is running, you release all the gas from the onboard gas tank again?
Why dont you just connect the big filling gasbottle to the gasvalve? |
