Its been months ago,since I worked on this model and now I`m ready to spray paint the model. I lost all of the photos,which I had taken of the building stages and will have to re-do it. This was due to a replacement of my pc`s Motherboard. I will keep a copy of all the new pics.

Hi Guys

I`ve come up with a solution,to protect the rudder and elevator servo leads,from the heat of the exhaust tube. I will insert the servo leads into a heat protective sleeving,which is used to protect the wires inside a toaster. It should work.

I had to add some filler to the openings,for the front wheel doors,due to a poor fit.

Hi Guys

All that I had to do,was sand the right side wing panel and the model was ready for spray painting. This was after not updating this thread for a long time. I noticed that there was grey primer painted over the original grey colour and I wondered why? Well,it was because the fibre glass fibres were showing through at 3 places on the leading edge of the wing. Its as if there was not enough resin applied to it. This was on the top sheeting side of the leading edge. This would for sure have caused it to delaminate in flight. So check your wings very carefully.

You can see in the above photographs,that there is a problem present in that area. I cut one section out,to see how I can repair it and I think that my idea will work? I apply another leading edge to the top sheeting and then join this leading edge,to the original one. It has to work and can`t see why it won`t work. If it was a foam wing,then it would be easier to do it,but this is a hollow section and I don`t want to add anymore weight to it,than what is necessary. To apply resin and cloth to the outside area of the sheeting,would just spoil the appearance of it and hide the rivet detail as well.

Okay,I`ve cut out the slots and epoxied a piece of 5 X 5 mm balsa onto the top sheeting. Now this must be joined to the original leading edge.

I used some 1/4 SQ. hard balsa to joint the two leading edges together. They will be epoxied in position at about 0,3 mm from the top surface of the wing. This will alow for a filler to be applied to it and sanded to shape.

Look's like someone else was not as fortunate as you. They apparently did not catch this fatal flaw, which resulted in a loss of the aircraft.

Can you revisit this for me? It would seem to me that using Aluminum glued into a control surface would allow for the bond between the glue and the slick aluminum surface to unbind. I've never heard of aluminum being used in this application, I'm curious what your thoughts or others are on this.

Hi seanreit

I`ve used aluminium,many a time,to make control horns and even undercarriages. The control horn which I made for the rudder,was fitted into the slot on the rudder and when positioned correctly,I scribed a line on either side of the horn,against the rudder surface. Then I removed the control horn,drilled a few holes in it,which will not be visible underneath the rudder`s outer surface. These holes are there,to contain the araldite epoxy and micro baloons mixture. The slot in the rudder was filled with the araldite epoxy,the cotrol horn was sanded with 80 grit sand paper and then inserted into the slot. Once the epoxy had dried,it was a hard as a rock.

If you ever want to glue aluminium into a plywood ar balsa slot,then first roughen the aluminium surface drill a few holes in it and epoxy it in place. It will not move at all. The surface next to the horn will fail,but not the horn itself. My Turbo Raven had the same horns on the elevators and were glued it,using the same method.

Try it and you`ll be surprised at the results.

a yes... Sascha from Germany
he is a customer of mine (now)
he bought his MB-339 last year at a jetmeeting.
this happened on the second flight....
he emailed the manufacturer about this
but i do now that if the manufacturer is present next year on the same jetshow , he will put the debree on his stand for others to see...

Skymaster will relase the new ARF PLUS MB-339 with Hydraulic L/G again on Aug 2007,

the new ARF PLUS MB-339 than the old version 2kg light and strong more, I will bring the new ARF PLUS MB-339 all white gelcoat to Jet Power Germany,
