This looks neat.
"RC Pilot " from Taiwan posted these pics in our Danish forum. |
RE: Harrier proto.
This is cool... Do you know how much work that is... Can you post the site with more info.. thanks
|
RE: Harrier proto.
thats sick!! if his prototype is sucessful its going to open a whole new level of flying!!
|
RE: Harrier proto.
There is no more info [:@]
I guess we will have to wait ;) heres the link : http://www.rc-unionen.dk/nytforum/to...TOPIC_ID=12945 |
RE: Harrier proto.
Why are pic 3 and 4 different parts... ?
|
RE: Harrier proto.
you find him...and ask him :-)
I think it is the same part..... but pic 3 looks like the inner hot part, and pic 4 is the outer "dual wall" |
RE: Harrier proto.
Didn't someone ("pegasus"?) develop a turbofan for the harrier? He's been having some problems with it, i'm not sure about the status of his project.....but it was very very spectacular.

RE: Harrier proto.
Man.. I wish I could see a clear pics of the plane.. I am dieing to know how they keep it stable...

RE: Harrier proto.
Doesnt look like the one that is flying is using the same thrust tubes as the parts he is holding. Also looks to be something on the ends of the booms-cant tell what it is-might be small props like the rig. It is not diverted thrust to the booms as I cant see any ducting. Need clearer pics.Scott

RE: Harrier proto.
I think the dark line out to each wing tip is exactly that: duct work for reaction control jets.
|
RE: Harrier proto.
This is a prototype of VTOL power by an Artes Rhino.
At the first 2 photo, the thrust provide by a turbine mounted vertically. 4 ducted fans mounted at the tips of the plane. The stability is provided by 3 gyros. The last 2 photo is the thrust transform system which will be mounted on the plane in the future. Hope he will success. |
RE: Harrier proto.
Very nice work Alex. please keep us updated.

RE: Harrier proto.
I have been thinking about this... Those pic are cool, but anyone who can design and build that
thing must know how to work a video camera. I have lots of video of my plane, but I only showed to the public the video of when it was working. Interesting. Best of luck.. and if you need any help let us know.. Eddie Weeks http://www.corpcomp.com/weeks1/ |

that is a interesting solution for the pitch control on the harrier.. thx for posting it.
and this is not a Harrier, but a interesting hovering jet concept that I liked very much. http://www.proxygen.com/36/Image.asp...59&sub_id=2131 Enrique |
RE: Harrier proto.
How do they control the Yaw.. ?
Eddie Weeks |
RE: Harrier proto.
they just tilt the rear fans forward/backward each...one great thing about this design is that it already has thrust vectoring for fast forward speed, and coupled with those canards it could be conventionaly landed at very low speeds even if any of the engines fail.

RE: Harrier proto.
Li Kai is a modeler in Taiwan. He designed the mechanism and structure for this Harrier. It took him a few years from concept to the phototype skeleton test flight. It was quite a successful test in 2006 winter. Near one year after, he even improved some design of exhaust and balance and successfully flew the phototype skeleton version 2. He contacted Skymaster to make a shell for his Harrier.
The last picture you see was the phototype shell and fuselage that Skymaster did for him. This one will be unable to vertically take off. It is going to be set up as a normal plane. He will be using this to find out the correct CG and to also make sure that the wing folio is correct. If everything goes smoothly he will have a second phototype with his design that will be doing vertical take off. Best wishes for Li Kai. |
