BobCat Elevator Servo Question?
I am just curious to know exactly how many BobCats have been lost due to elevator servo failure? I have been following the other posts on the servos that are being used. I read where some have been lost to the gears being stripped out. I am a little concerned about using the DS3301's because of the nylon gears. Are there any metal gear servos that would be a suitable replacement?

servos
David,
I have heard of some people using 8411's, Multiplex profis, and hitec 5945's which are all metal geared. I was one who lost their bobcat to elevator servo failure and will be going with a metal gear servos instead of nylon for the elevator. Patrick. |
BobCat Elevator Servo Question?
Mine has around 250 flights with the recommended 3301 servos with ZERO problems. Anyone who has seen me fly the plane knows I don't baby it either. That being said if you are not comfortabel with the serovs specified change them to something larger.

BobCat servo replacements
If you wish to use a different servo, I recommend considering the JR DS9411's. They have a metal geartrain and loads of torque.

Bobcat
I had a spectator trip over my Bobcat and kick the elevator, stripping the gears on a 3301. I replaced it and havn't sent it in for repairs yet. It was a pretty good kick though. The guy slithered away before I knew what the damage was. I will continue to monitor this question as I am now building a second Bobcat.
