Default BobCat Elevator Servo Question?

I am just curious to know exactly how many BobCats have been lost due to elevator servo failure? I have been following the other posts on the servos that are being used. I read where some have been lost to the gears being stripped out. I am a little concerned about using the DS3301's because of the nylon gears. Are there any metal gear servos that would be a suitable replacement?
Thanks David

Default servos

David,
I have heard of some people using 8411's, Multiplex profis, and hitec 5945's which are all metal geared. I was one who lost their bobcat to elevator servo failure and will be going with a metal gear servos instead of nylon for the elevator.

Default BobCat Elevator Servo Question?

Mine has around 250 flights with the recommended 3301 servos with ZERO problems. Anyone who has seen me fly the plane knows I don't baby it either. That being said if you are not comfortabel with the serovs specified change them to something larger.

Default BobCat servo replacements

If you wish to use a different servo, I recommend considering the JR DS9411's. They have a metal geartrain and loads of torque.

Default Bobcat

I had a spectator trip over my Bobcat and kick the elevator, stripping the gears on a 3301. I replaced it and havn't sent it in for repairs yet. It was a pretty good kick though. The guy slithered away before I knew what the damage was. I will continue to monitor this question as I am now building a second Bobcat.
