How do canards work???
I am totally confused on how to set up "canards" on my gripen. Can someone PLEASE explain to me how they work and how to set them up.... Are the canards used as flaps?? Are they mixed in with the elevator??? Are they on a totally seperate switch for landing??? I have the Jet legends gripen with a P120 going in it. I no other folks have flown this jet. I guess I need to no the initial throws of the control surfaces and when they are used. THANKS IN ADVANCE...........
Thanks Again Hoss |
RE: How do canards work???
Hoss,
Mixed with the elevator, your manual should give you suggestions for throws. You can have a landing mix with a little up canard so that the angle of attack will be increased which will slow down the plane for landing. Is that what you mean by flaps? The canarad goes opposite of the elevator... ie up elevator would look like down canard. I put 10 degrees up canard in a mix for landing. Same thing on take off would get the nose off the ground faster... Hope this helps, Mike |

Look at the pictures in my post. One on the left showing the canards in the up position and the other on the right is in the down position.
Hope this helps Pictures was taking from skymaster site. |
RE: How do canards work???
With the jet legends model you don't get a manual.... So If I put in about 10 degrees up in the canards and mix it with the elevator, about how much down should I start with in the elevator?? I hoping that this set up will slow the jet up for landings. I sure thank you for the suggestions...........
Thanks again Hoss |
