Maybe he is just trying to convey the number of Glascat's that were actually produced. |

This is the email reply I got From Spiderman, I will assume he will post
something here very soon. And I have not gotten a call from him yet. Send a phone # and I will call you. I originally ordered that plane about 8 years ago. Didn't receive anything for 5 years and then only parts of a kit. Too much to write but I will call and give you details which ends in a crash and burn. Thanks for mailing me about the forum. He kind of reminds me of a first year college student going home for the first time. When he meets with his high school buddies he starts bragging how many times he got laid which in most cases is total BS. Take care, Spiderman |

Most excellent Country!! :) "TJ" can not make it to Fla Jets this year with a turbine "Cat" as he readily admits that there is no such thing (yet) as a turbine powered "Cat" (yet). But I am quite CERTAIN that the entire Jet community would be far more than hap hap happy to shut down the entire flight line at ANY 2006 event to allow for a prop powered GlassCat to take to the skies!!! We could all see first hand what the hullabaloe (sp?) is about. TJ, can we pencil you in??? |

I am going to go to Seattle soon to talk to the folks at Vulcan Ventures, Paul Allen's venture capital outlet, and see if they will give a copy of the display model to Mr. Allen. I think if he sees it he will want to throw 2 or 3 million at it and get it developed. That is pocket change to him. I am in the process of making a fiberglass mold off of the display model right now, so can produce as many as I want. Todd, let me know if you want one to show to DARPA. Remember, I have a design patent. So I will try to make it to Florida Jets. Maybe before that Todd will have me there working on the projects. And sorry about Danny's post. I shouldn't have given him my user ID and password. He just said he wanted to put in his two cents. I thought it was pretty funny though! You never know what he is up to. Anyway, I was just in Spokane, Wa. about two hours ago, and I was talking to a BMW salesman who said he used to be in the movie and entertainment industry, for about 20 years. He said he did work on the miniature "Hanoi" in "Flight of the Intruder", where they zoomed over it with a camera, and helped make the undersea stuff in "The Abyss", and several other movies, including some work on the first Batman. He said that he dated Miss July, 1996 in Playboy, Traci..... (can't remember her last name) a few times and knows her pretty well. Didn't say if he ever slept with her, or not. I am going to the Playboy website and go to the playmates section and search for her to see what she looks like. Amazing who you run into just in ordinary life. I was just there to test drive a Z4, so that when this all comes together I will be able to know exactly what I want. I'm going to see if he can put me in touch with her. My buddy in San Jose' E-mailed me and said he doesn't know if his ex-wife can go see Hef, or not, (to give him a display model) since it has been more than 20 years. But I told him Hef said, "once a playmate, always a playmate). So anyway, maybe Miss July of '96 can do it. |

If Playboy decides to do the deal, maybe I can arrive at this years in a chartered jet. And I will probably fly the full size Playboy Jet to Florida Jets, 2007. |

Oh, sorry, my mistake, she was Miss July, 1994, not 96, and her name is Traci Adell.

RE: Glascat
INstead of the the same ole b/s stories, why not put the information
asked for up here. You know, get the person that flew the glasscat with a prop up here. (with his own IP address) I talked to a long time customer of yours yesterday, and found out, he too asked for the guys name and number and you would never provide it. He also said you have no idea where the CG is on this airframe. So now we know its never flown, ever. (more than 20 second in the air) You should go into the balsa rubber band powered, thread, maybe the kiddie's there will believe your stories, and have a short enough memory that when you fail to post up the goods, they forget. [quote]ORIGINAL: Countryboy [quote]ORIGINAL: pilotdude57 ORIGINAL: Countryboy Tracy, According to your claim as highlighted above...could I get contact information for a few of your customers. Tracy, You know what they say.... There's a sucker born every minute ! Still waiting on the info I requested !!! Richard is not the only one that has received one of these...is he? |

You guys are gettin' me in trouble - the girlfriend is giving me heat for passing up " Desperate Housewives" for this thread - LOL! |
RE: Glascat
Richard,
It's a lost cause !!! Tracy's life is full of twist & turn's...unfortunately none of the twist & turn's pertain to anything that takes to the air. It is obvious that he can not supply the requested info. I would not take a gamble on him if he was the only horse in the race. I can't imagine that Vulcan Ventures would think any differently. I certainly would hate to think I was going to throw 2 or 3 million at a project based on a concept model that can't even be proved as airworthy. Tracy is simply an individual waiting for his boat to come in at the expense of other's. How long has this lawsuit BS been going on now ? Lawsuit's can be tied up in courts for years on end and he just keep's beating the same ole drum....wishing & hoping. Tracy, For what it's worth even though it has been beaten to death, "Much like this whole issue with the Glascat", I did have the opportunity to meet Richard & Mark several year's ago at Superman and saw Richard's modified Roo first hand. I tend to believe he and Mark have an inclination of what is the right & wrong way to hinge a control surface. You don't get to be a Rocket Scientist without a little gray matter up top. You on the other hand can not supply simple picture's to back your claims...you just keep spouting about lawsuit's & drivel Hollywood BS. Lay it on the line dude, what are you really hoping to accomplish here ? |

You know, get the person that flew the glasscat with a prop up here. (with his own IP address) The guy who built and flew the first prototype is John Hicks, Spokane, Washington. You can call B&B Hobbies in Spokane and they might give you his number. It flew for about 6 or 7 minutes. He had the CG a tad too far back, so it was pitch sensitive. As for the proper CG location it should be about 1.5 inches ahead of the main gear strut. I don't know what kind of problem caused the 20 second flight, but it wasn't a design flaw. Must have been pilot error or wrong CG location. Did he describe what happened during the flight? Also, I am going to make a recording of the first flight from VHS to 8mm video. Mark, can you play 8mm video and record to VHS or put on the Internet? Also, these photos are of the wing that Richard sent back to me. The first photo is of the first section I cut away to reveal the triangle balsa and 1/8 inch ply. The second photo is the second section I cut away, for a before and after shot. The beginning of the balsa is about 1/8 to 3/16 from the fiberglass surface, so upon initial inspection it appears that there is nothing there to back it up, however he would have shined a light into it he would have seen it. The third photo shows the incorrect installation of the flap, not tucked up into the curvature, like it should be. The fourth photo shows the aluminum tube installation, where the forward tube will be moved further forward and made much larger. |
RE: Glascat
John Hicks' number in Spokane, if you want to call him and ask how long the GlasCat flew, is (509) 276-8322. Don't tell him I think he built it too heavy, he probably doesn't want to accept the blame for it. But as an example he put a wooden carrying handle in it, which probably was a half pound, just by itself.
|
RE: Glascat
Yes, TJ, if you send it on 8 mm video, I can handle it.
It has been a number of years since I saw that GlassCat. Here's the way I remember it: there was indeed not enough of a substantial backing to reliably glue in the Robart hinge points. I understand fully well what TJ means about the way that he intended the flaps to be set up (Fowler-like). But I certainly did not like that due to A) the lack of enough structure to glue in the hinges, and B) the longer unsupported length of Robart hinge points that would then be necessary. On a slower prop job, that may be sufficient, but not with 27 lbs of blow pushing this thing. It was not a chance we wanted to take. I fully understand that the Fowler type arrangement would be better aerodynamically, but putting the flats into a simple split-flap arrangement (as Richard was doing) would certainly be acceptable and certainly far more structurally sound and stiffer (stiffer is better at higher speeds, aeroelastically). Therefore: TJ is wrong. Richard's mods, where the "beat the dead horse hinge matter" is concerned were definitely warranted. |
RE: Glascat
I just called your pal, John Hicks, he has no idea you posted his phone number onLINE.
and asked me to inform you to remove it. He clearly told me that the plane was not complete, that he did what he needed to, to get it to fly, and that you had no idea of the CG, and that it was placed in your hands RTF after this flight. His story was remarkably close to your post, imagine that? MODERATORS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL THIS PERSON. ORIGINAL: pilotdude57 John Hicks' number in Spokane, if you want to call him and ask how long the GlasCat flew, is (509) 276-8322. RE: Glascat
CountryBoy, you are totally correct, this is a lost cause.
The back an forth, with this guy are all dead ends. All I can hope for is the Moderators, pull his add, and remove his IP, from RCU. This is the only way to save people that do not know better from being taken. The RCU Moderators, took down a thread I placed about the add he had, that included his name, the model(s) names, and this thread, all in one thread. In my opinion, this is a very big mistake on the RCU-Moderators part. I feel this thread shows clearly, that any one with any knowledge to search a product, in this case both this aircraft names, as well as his name should be clearly available to anyone that wish's to search a product before they buy. I have clearly, not stated anything incorrect, nor anything Tracy Jenson has not admitted to in this forum. I maybe removed from RCU for simply posting this reply, but if one Person that would have sent Tracy money see's this reply, than I'll take the removal in pride! RICHARD NEWMAN |
RE: Glascat
Mark,
I will get it in the mail tommorrow. You should have it by Wednesday. Also, John put the hinges in the way they were meant to be, and then built a support structure between the wing surface and hinge, sort of like a box with balsa or lite ply on the sides and between the wing and Robart. That stiffened it up to plenty of strength. The same on the flap itself. Remember, you are supposed to slow the airplane down first before deploying flaps, anyway. John Hicks' phone number is listed in the phone book, so anyone could have obtained it through directory assistance, anyway. Also, I told John where to put the CG, and he did, and it was only slightly off from where it should have been. Should have been about 1/4 to 1/2 inch further forward. He didn't complain about the way the airplane flew afterward. Also, Richard, just because I had some problems getting orders to people before doesn't mean that will happen now. I had a full-time job then, and I originally advertised it in the magazines at WAY to low a price, so got way too many orders all at once, and that was just as I was finishing the tailboom molds. If I would have waited just one extra month to advertise and priced it at about $700 everything would have been alright. Now that I have everything necessary for production and all the time in the world to do it, obviously the same thing won't happen again. Not only that but now the DOJ attorney in our lawsuit has said that if the court doesn't dismiss our case by the end of February that they will discuss settlement. The same court refused to grant his request in an almost identical case about a year ago, so things look good for me to put a bunch of money into production then. Obviously if I get some initial orders now the people who place them will have a head start on getting their product, and if a group of ten people put down deposits I can get right to work and get them produced. |

Will the layup on the new & improved version be better than this?
|
RE: Glascat
TJ, I will look for the tape on Wednesday.
I realize that the plane would normally be slowed prior to flap deployment. I still felt uncomfortable with the proposed installation. Yeah, we could have rigged some Rube-Goldberg local stiffening box around each hinge point, but at some point you just gotta decide that "this just ain't worth all of the extra crap ya gotta do"! Richard: PLEASE stop asking the moderators to pull TJ's IP and not allow him to post. Just this thread alone has rejuvenated many people, saved marriages, and no doubt cured cancer! IT MUST CONTINUE! Life may not be worth living without it. |
