DO NOT USE HS-55'S ON ANY PART OF THIS PLANE. Don't mean to be rude just be sure you don't do it.

The HS-81MG's I used are a much more powerful servo and have metal gears.

The 81mgs are a good application for this bird for the dual elev and rudder surfaces. The Tower .75 is as well althought the .55ax probably rocks, may try that next. I've got over 100 flights on mine even got it hovering. The Tower .75 likes it a tad on the rich side, keeps it cool and won't burn up plugs either.

You have a Bobcat with a tower .75?

I maidened the the Bobcat today and lets just say it was less than satisfying. The Tower .75 acts like it is broken in on the ground but when I put it in the air today it would not "get on the pipe" but yet it does on the ground.

The only reasonable thing I can think of is the angle of the exhaust on the Tower muffler. The exhaust points almost straight back which puts it in the direct path of the on comming air. My theory is that the on comming air is overpressurizing the tank and causing the engine to run rich. I have put a dubro exhaust deflector on it and will try again.

Finished my Bobcat! I am impressed with the quality, for the money--- a great deal!!
My mods. were
1. Single elevator servo mounted in stab. Futaba 3102 64 oz. pull on 6 volts
2. Bolted wing on with picture hanger bolt 1 inch from front rod. They are removable but seem secure.
3. Used Fultz nose gear. double wire to axle.
4. Hs 81 on rudders 41 oz. pull
5. Hs 545 on ailerons 61 oz. pull
6. Standards on throttle and nose wheel. Nose wheel gear was flat spoted to prevent turning.
7. Powered by 91 Fx with 6 volt battery balanced mounted in nose. Moved tank to center bay lines exiting towards rear, 90 degree splice in tank to assure complete flow. This set up balanced at 10 .25 from leading edge.
8. Master Airscrew 14/7 3 blade prop trimmed

Ready for maiden flight !

It appears like the cambered side of the prop is facing the rear of the aircraft..

Hi I had my Cat recovered and new paint scheme to match my 5 Jet turbine, model decided it was going to be a great trainer for same. The turbine one should be easy to recognise.

My maiden flight was delayed by high winds, 20 + here in Akron. I did taxi around and got some cool shots at the field.

Are you guys mounting the tank in the rear poscket of the fuse and balancing with it empty or full?

also for the single elevator servo mod how are you guys attaching it to the elevator?

Also, nearly finished mine, holes were missing for anti rotation rod, a root wing rib is missing in one side, only two ribs not three? Added Tnut and screws to keep wings on.

Fly it, It looks like one wing is 1/8 shorter than the other, which is not significant for me.

Latest flight performance report

Stopped counting the number of flights I have on the plane, but I've been flying it 8 to 10 times per weekend for a while now.

- Landing gear is holding up well. Bends back a little over time, but nothing major.

- Covering trim is continuing to peel off here and there. Nothing major, but the trim is pretty cheap quality material.

- No cracks or wear noted on the glass fuselage. No loose bulkheads. Paint is holding up well.

- Motor mount is staying tight (used 6/32 replacement screws and self locking nuts, the originals stripped on installation).

- Booms staying put using stock nylon bolt mounting hardware (mounting blocks were re-enforced with epoxy and 1/4 sq hardwood)

- Canopy holding up well. Mounted with 8 small screws into fuselage, no wood re-enforcment. No glue.

- Radar gun speed measurement. Best speed measured was 102mph after dive pullout to level flight. Average level speed was in the mid 80mph range. The radar gun had a difficult time consistantly picking up the plane, so the accuracy of the speeds is in doubt. Running a stock OS 55ax with 11x7 APC prop and 15% Omega fuel. A buddy had one with a 46ax (RIP, dumb thumbs) and it was a few MPH slower. In flight my 55ax powered plane walked away fromt he 46ax plane. Flew with another buddy's KeeCat last weekend that was running an OS91 and cut down 3 blade 11x10 prop. My Bobcat easily out ran it. The Keecat was repropped this weekend with another cutdown prop, I think it ended up being 3 blade 11x8. It was an improvment, but a tad slower then the 46ax Bobcat.

- Noticed a snap roll tendancy at full elevator deflection on full power pullout at the bottom of a tight loop. I've seen this before in other scale and high speed planes, so it's not unexpected. Heck I've had this happen in a lot slow planes, so just don't do it low :)

- Love having the plane in one piece to and from the field. Pull it out, fuel it, fly it.

- OS 55ax is running great. No problems at all. Easy starts, smooth transition and reliable idle.
