Flew mine today for the first time and all I can say is holly *****. That baby really moves and the Jett 50 is an absolutely awesome engine. 5 flights today and hopefully as many tomorrow. A real crowd pleaser as well. What a rush.

Well after destroying the original BobCat, I got a second one to try again. Will be going out in a few hours to attempt it maiden flight. Have reversed the gear and put a larger nose wheel on, as well as rerouting the exhaust. Removed the baffle from the muffler of my OS55AX. Running an APC 10X8P. I have included a couple of pix. I think the new paint scheme (except for the @#$% red canopy) looks really cool. Wish me luck. I have a good friend who is my builder and test pilot gonna take it out but after he sorts it out, I get to try my hand at it. Wish me luck

Hi Guys,
Right lets see if any one can help me?
I have a BoBCat with a ASP70 four stroke with 11x8 graupner Pusher and CG at 260mm or 10.3"
It shot down a tarmac runway full throttle going like the clappers and it would not rotate it would not lift at all?
We tried twice before a stone hit the prop and damaged it.
Now most of the Guy's there say that the rear undercarriage is too far back?????????
But looking around on this forum no one seams to have this problem.
Any idears please

Thank
Mark

Hi Just reverse the undercarriage and you will be fine .. Also make sure that you have plenty of elevator for the first flights until you get to know It Flight characteristic's.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

It will also take off fine with the gear in the stock location, however, make sure that your nose strut is as long as possible to give it a nose up attitude....

I'd be interested to hear how the 4stroke works...one fella tried it early on, and swapped for a 2 stroke after a single flight....I haven't heard of anyone trying a 4stroke since then......

whell like i said the saitos can be reversed like the jett moters an there you go you can use many more props four strokers are only guna be fast with alot of pich like 10 to 14 or more if you can find it

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

Like Wayne said, It is more than likely the nose wheel height. Mine was stuck to the ground and popped off the first flight. I knew negative attitude would do this from reading other posts so I made it longer and on flight 2 the thing came off the ground like a sig cadet.

Well i banked and yanked mine into a flat spin could not recover busted it up a little still repairable third crash on original bobcat i was putting it to the test and once again learned what not to do!

I took the 46 fx out 2 put in F22 for something 2 fly while i repair the bobcat.

I have a Supertigre 75 coming to put in bobcat im guessing by what i have read in this forum that 12x 6 is the way to go on this size motor Tower is sold out anyone know where i can get some 12x6 pusher props ??

Thx

Took the Bobcat out today. Posted some video of the flights and the radar gun speeds. I want to ad there was no weather benefit (cool temp, wind, low humidity) to affect the readings shown. I'm running the OS55AX with a 10X8P APC prop.

http://www.rcuvideos.com/publish/item/BF12G8M922KX440V

Easy takeoff manners shown, but the extra tall nose gear bent up on landing, and is going to have to be replaced. Also going to have my friend strengthen up the main gear, as the blocks just aren't cutting it. I had my friend fly all the low pass, invert stuff, as I'm just a transitioning slow flyer and I'd rather not wreck the second BobCat...LOL.

Bruce, do you find the .55AX works best with the 10x8. I was going to start with an 11x7, 11x8. What do you like about the 10x8 over the 11 props? I am only asking because I have not even started my .55AX yet and wanted to benefit from your experience.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike

I was the one who built and test flew the Bobcat for Bruce. The reason that we started with the 10x8 is because APC does not make a 10x9 apc pusher prop I don't even believe that they even make an 11x8 pusher you would have to go with graupner. I really wish that we had more choices for pusher props but we dont.

Thanks
Jose

Finally made my maiden flight with the Bobcat. All I can say is Sweeet! A couple clicks of trim and this baby was flying on rails. Tower 75 with APC 11x7. Takse offs are smooth and landings are smoother. I had all the guys at the field in awe. From the attached pictures you can see it was a perfect day and the yellow color scheme looks awesome in a blue sky.

It comes down to a matter of choice, or rather lack of it. The higher pitch translates to more speed (so I'm told) and I've been taught to use props that don't flex much. That means APC to me. One side note about the .55AX, remove the baffle, it makes a difference, and it sounds really great too.

I'm just curious to see if anyone in this thread has seen the bobcat 90? Only reason I ask is because there is no information about it on the product page....I'm really just wanting to know if it's retract ready.

Thanks,

The higher pitch translates to more speed (so I'm told)

This is only true to a certain degree. If the prop pitch is so high that it doesn't allow the engine to reach optimum RPM's the speed will decrease. A high pitch prop will also decrease the vertical performance.

Thats right higer pitch at the SAME rpm means more horizontal speed, but you will loose some vertical perfomance. The key is to get as much pitch while keeping the rpm's up.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

My Bobcat flies at exactly the same speed on either a 10x7P or a 10x8P (ASP52). The 8" pitch spins a little slower than the 7" and I guess this means that the speed of the propwas is about the same either way.

I still have unlimited vertical in either configuration though :-)

Does anybody know what these things are covered in? Ultracote, monokote, etc etc and what color matches the yellow best?

Thanks
