Saw a pic of your F-15 in the mag. rc Jet and it looked beautiful. Sorry to hear about the F-16. Any 'G' at the time ? Also thanks very much Ozcan for the info re the ECU on the J600. Regards, B-767 |

I was there withnessing the mid-air destruction of the F16..look spectacular just like it has beed shut by SAMS. The F16 just came down from 35 deg dive and the failure was in level flight...the right wing came off and the F16 continued to spiral with great forward speed and going 10 deg downward until impact. The speed recorded 260kph still short of the red/white F18 at 280kph.
B777 was at the control but ejected safely in time..he is training now to check out on Trim Spectre this Sunday. Dr. Jets |

Dr. Jet,
Great description, sounds like a CASA investigation report. You'll have to paint a little 'barber pole' at the 80% thrust lever position on B-777's transmitter ! |

B 777  I thought that you could recover with only one right side wing left :(!!!!!!!! Sorried for the unexpected accident.
Cheers |

I was planning to stay out of this thread because of the original 'no reps please' clause, but now that its changed direction... :)
Kraivuth (B777), I'd like to see photos of the damaged wing if you have any. A good friend is building the older polyester F-16C and almost ready to join the wings. He's planning to install a homebuilt KJ-66 so the stresses will also be rather high. If the failure was relating to the wing skin delaminating around the spar, he will probably use higher strength cloth rather than the conventional 3/4 oz material. If the spar itself was the failure point, he'll probably cap it with unidirectional carbon. Glad to hear the J600 survived. :) Talk to you later, Kelly |

Glitch, have you purchased your sabre yet? I am considering selling mine in "turn key" configuration, or without turbine. If interested talk to Peter Agnew. Regards Frankie

I posted the pictures of the F16 wing in the "Yellow F16C Wing" thread.
My J600 is now in the Spectre and ready for takeoff this Sunday. B777 |

Hello Kraivuth, how was your trip back to Thailand? You left at the right time, today they are forecasting high temps. and more fires!
Let us know how the spectre performs, as many of us have these airframes sitting idle, regards Frank and Anne. |
Pst J600
Frank, hope you guys get rain soon...must be frustrated to sit and play around but can't fly. We can only fly 52 Sundays here in Thailand.
Hello Anne from all at PST. B777 |

Richard's PST-J600 just arrived at my house and I could not resist opening her up. Wow! Sure is a great looking engine. Can't wait to see her fly his Kangaroo this weekend.

Pst J600
Glad to hear that the J600 arrived safe and sound. She will be plenty for the Kangaroo. Have fun. Don't forget to read the manual.

I witnessed the operation of the J600 both on ground and in flight and must say...very impressive. Nice auto start and attractive appearance. Seems to be very powerful for the AV8R and I noticed half throttle during manuevers.
I am saving up for the J600! Is PST going to be at Florida Jets? Kevin C. Love to fly turbine jets... |

Its time the AMA got the 600 cleared, they seem to be dragging their heels somewhat. They have all the information needed and the engine IS as good as they come so why are AMA delaying things further ?
My 600 will be at FJ. BRG, David Gladwin |
Pst J600
Like to know as well..why PST takes so long and T-500 takes less than 2 weeks?? Lack of documentation? Following the thread answered by PST, they submitted all stuffs..not correct? This again confirmed by David G. Hope they are not pulling to after FJ. Its too obvious.

Deafening silence from AMA and those well connected with that organisation ! What, and by whom, is a T-500 ?
BRG, David Gladwin |
Pst J600
And why can Frank Tiano get his engines certified from the previous RAM engines - they are going by a different name and also are using different parts - but not Wren, who supplied JDE with their MKII Wren MW54 engine kits, which were then sold by JDE as the JDE 54 and certified, who in order to get the approval must go through the entire process again for themselves?
AJC |
Pst J600
OK I now know what a T500 is. Its a revamped RAM 500 with a new shaft and turbine wheel, the most critical (in terms of safety) components, so it needed a full assesment didn't it ?
BRG, David Gladwin |
david
hey david, be glad another turbine choice is out there. if a type is approved and than improved by the mfg i have no problem. as for ama, who knows. and dont take me wrong i am waiting to order a pst and will if i can fly it at fl jets. so come on ama and do the right thing and make the pst legal in enough time for me to get and install my pst. thx barry

certification of turbines
The reason some people might have to go through the process again is because the turbine and ecu are a matched set.
Any ecus with engine parameters adjustable by the user according to the AMA is A no no. GB hobbys sells a great ecu, all engine parameters set by the user , but you won't see the AMA oking it with the Wren 54 or any other turbine. However the Fadec sold with the JD 54 is supposed to be able to be user adjustable so I don't know where the AMA get away with it is at on that one. If you see the engine/ecu approved sheet, they are in sets. |
Pst J600
John, do you know what parameters are restricted? On my TEMS, I can adjust ramp up and down, idle speed, and top speed.
All adjustments that I am capable of doing on the ECU is limited on both ends by the factory hard coded settings. For example, I can't lower the idle less than 33000, nor increase the top end beyond 126,000 on my particular engine. Just curious, because I could make the same adjustments on my transmitter if I had too... Thanks, |
